The target audience formymagazine is15 – 25 yearolds.I decidedtomake a musicmagazine
targetedat thisage group because of the resultsIgot inmy research.I foundoutthat majorityof
people whotookthe surveywere fromthe age group16-25, the most popularmusicmagazine
genre wasalternative/indieandthe participantssaidtheywouldn’tspendover£2.50 ona magazine;
therefore,Ihave includedthese factorsintomyfinal magazine.Inadditiontothis,
fromthe responsesIhadgottenfrommy focusgroupthe feedbackwaspositive
fromparticipants.
It was saidthat the photographyof mymagazine wasdone well aswasthe use of
the GuttenbergPrincipal.ForthisItookintoaccount othermagazineslike
Kerrang!and hadthe mastheadinthe strongfallow areaand the primaryoptical
area. In the terminal areaI put the barcode on the coverto make sure it’sthe last
thingthe readersees.The use of Guttenbergcreateda positive effectandmade
the magazine lookneatand professional.
The house style wascommentedonasit staysconsistent
throughoutthe magazine,thisisbecause of the coloursused
inthe colourscheme andthe varietyof typefacesusedas
theycomplementeachother.The coloursIusedwere suited
to the genre of the magazine asthe neutral colourof blues
and redscan be seenasalternative andindie.The coloursare
constantthroughoutas well.The fontsusedare constantyet
there isa wide range froma thirdparty fontservice andfromthe range on Photoshop.
The layoutwas goodas symmetrywasusedinthe magazine. Itook ideasfromother
magazineslike Qwhendesigningthe layoutof mycontentspage anddouble page
spreadas it helpedmake the magazinelookprofessional.The layoutof the contents
page was inspiredfromaQ subscriptiononlymagazinewhichmeansthatmyreaders
will geta special editioncontentspage ineachedition.
All respondentssaidtheywouldbuythismagazine forvariousreasons.Fromthe
feedbackIbelieve thatmymusicmagazine meetsandaddressesthe needsof my
target audience.
