1. Questions 4&5
Who would be the audience for your media product? & How did you
attract/address your audience?
2. The target audience for my magazine is mainly the female
gender of young adults (16-25). I did address them and
their preferred style though my focus group including my
target ages. They gave me feedback to the production on
how people in that age range would desire the style.
Target audience
3. Reasoning
My original plan was to aim the magazine to both genders,
however throughout the development stage of construction with
my production, I decided to aim towards females because my
research showed there is not currently a magazine on the market
aimed primarily towards females. While there are several
magazines aimed towards both genders but are read mainly by
males, such as NME and Q which use harsh and bold colours.
This gave me a chance to develop a new
magazine incorporating conventions used in existing magazines
and include new unique ideas of my own.

5. Market
My audience would be mainstream, as nothing in my production includes anything
aimed at a niche market. It includes well known music and artists to attract their existing
fans, and upcoming artists to appeal to a younger audience who want to keep updated
in the industry.
Class
I addressed the class of my magazine to be all rounded; it will be affordable to the lower
class and students, at the price of £2.50 and at the same it will be accessible to the
upper class.
6. Mise en scene
For the mise en scene, I clothed my models in casual clothing due to my
magazine being in the music genre rather than the fashion genre. Also,
casual clothing enables the younger audience to relate to the artist , and
the models were all in the age range of 16-25, my target audience. I also
used direct mode of address on my front cover and contents page images
to create a persona relationship between the artist and the audience
(uses and grat).
7. Codes and conventions
I used common conventions found in my research such as bold text
and imagery to attract my audience. This along with consulting my focus
group for input and feedback enabled me to create a magazine that would
be attractive to my target audience.
The images I made eye catching and large to attract the audiences attention,
and the masthead is white which stands out contracting to the other house
colours. The layout is fairly clear and not overly text heavy to attract the
younger audience.
