2. Part 1
The building chosen for this assignment is a semi-d house at Puchong.

3. Part 2
The type of foundation for this house is pad foundation. From the two
columns that could be seen in this picture, it could be seen that it is from
a pad foundation.

4. In this house, there are two kinds of slab. They are non-suspended slab
and suspended slab. The non-suspended slab could be seen on the
ground floor of the house. The suspended slab could be seen from the
staircase of the house.

5. The type of roof for this house is pitched roof. This is because the
weather in the area is humid, hence pitched roof is used avoid
accumulation of water.

6. Part 3
The other foundation that could be used for this building is strip
foundation. This is because the house is not more than four stories high
and beside the building is a hill. This means that the soil is of good
bearing capacity. Other than that, piling foundation is also suitable for
this building. It is because piling is very strong and durable.
The other type of slabs that could be used are waffle slab and post-
tensioned slab. Waffle slab is lighter and stiffer than an equivalent flat
slab. While post-tensioned slab is a very efficient structure that can
minimize material usages and decrease cost.
The other type of roof than can be used for this building is hip roof and
flat roof. Hip roof which is similar to pitched roof can be an alternative
to replace the existing roof type. Flat roof which is quite modern now is
also suitable for the building.
