2. Using the Levels… tab meant I
could change the blacks and
the whites.
Using the Black and White…
tab meant I could change the
picture to B&W and adjust
what certain colours looked like.
I could also add a tint to the
photo if I had one main colour
for the theme.
Using the Hue/Saturation tab
meant I could change the
colour of the hue of the
picture and the saturation to
change the intensity and the
purity of the colours.
3. • Here I have changed the blacks and whites
and shown the difference between the
original and adding more black.
• I have experimented with the blacks and
whites and seen shown above what
happens when you adjust the setting too far
one way.
4. • These pictures show the image changing
into B&W. I also adjusted some colours so
certain sections were darker/lighter.
• The bottom picture shows the bale blue
tint I added.
• The top 2 pictures are showing what
happens when you change the hue
colour.
• The bottom colour shows what happens
when you over saturate the picture.
5. Original
• Above I have over done the hue colour
which creates a unique looking picture.
• Below the over coloured picture is a
picture with a blue tint to add to the sky
and to darken the colours.
• Above I had changed the blacks and
whites to define certain features.
• To the left I have changed the picture
to B&W and adjusted the colours to
become dark or lighter.
6. • To select a section of the picture to
remain the original colours whilst
the rest is black and white or
coloured, you need to follow these
steps.
All of these steps as shown in the
pictures to the left for guidance.
1. Duplicate the picture layer.
2. Change the bottom picture to black
and white or coloured as shown on
this PowerPoint and make the layer
invisible.
3. Change the feather setting to 100
for curved corners and make sure
the top layer is selected.
4. Go to the rectangle marque tool
and select the area you wanted to
keep from the original picture.
5. Go to select, inverse then press the
backspace button then press the
enter button and go to select then
deselect.
6. Reselect the bottom layer so the
B&W or coloured picture is under
showing.
7. • Above I have shown my poster as I have begun to add
text on top of the picture.
• I have had to think about the colours, the text size, the
spacing (between letters and lines), the fonts, for
creating a theme.
• For the colours I used the eyedrop tool to use colours
from the background.
• I spaced out ‘steam’ to fit on top of ‘engines’ to create a
box feature title
• Above I have shown how I added shadowing to my
heading.
• I double clicked on the text layer (to the right of
the text) and it produced the menu shown.
• I then selected drop shadow and changed the
colour, angle and distance to match the title.
