The document discusses the design and analysis of brake linings for commercial vehicles. It aims to develop a new brake lining composite material using CATIA V5 for design and ANSYS for analysis. Three materials are considered - Al6061, Al2O3 and Al6061-Al2O3-ZrO2 under a load of 1.5MPa and thermal conditions of 90°C temperature and 22°C convection. The objectives are to study the stress, deformation, temperature and heat flux induced and determine the most suitable material. Previous research on alternative materials for asbestos is reviewed regarding composition, properties and performance.
