The document describes the steps taken to update a music poster based on feedback. It details how the artist copied a panel from their digipak to maintain continuity. It then explains how they blacked out the artist's face, changed the background color to maroon, added text stating the release date as "out now", and included more social media information to promote the artist. The updated poster incorporated this feedback to make the design more appealing and informative for audiences.
3. Feedback:
• “Change background colour as it makes the
poster look dull”
• “To create continuity, you could copy a panel
from your digipak and change it to match the
poster requirement, making it easily
recognisable”
• “add release date as audience are currently
unaware of when the product is released”
4. Step 1 - Inspiration
In an attempt to maintain
the continuity throughout
my products, I decided to
take inspiration from the
inside panel of my digipak
and use this as a template
for my poster. My intention is
to use the same, or similar,
image then add text and
other relevant information to
the poster that is expected of
an industry standard piece of
work.
5. Step 2 – Overlay:
The first step I decided
to take with regards to
fulfilling the requests of
my feedback was to
black out the artists face.
The reason I decided to
take this action is due to
the fact that it connoted
the idea of his frail
existence within the
video, which I thought
was effective.
The process was carried
out on Photoshop, using
the Paint Bucket Tool
6. Step 3 – Background:
My feedback suggested that I changed the colour of my
background to make my product look less dull. I initially
decided on changing the background to a lighter shade of
grey to avoid me having to change the full effect of the
image. After doing this I decided I did not like the overall
effect so decided to seek a more prominant colour, this
being maroon. The maroon colour made the poster a lot
more bold and therefore appealing in the eyes of a
consumer.
This was carried out on Photoshop with the main tool
used being the Paint Bucket tool.
7. Step 4 – Release Date:
Initially, I did not include a release date on my poster due to
forgetting, however, once I had reviewed my product and
gained feedback I decided to act upon this. Instead of adding
a specific date to my poster, I decided to add ‘out now’ the
reason being is due to the fact that I wanted my product to
look current and already on the market as opposed to having
the audience waiting in anticipation for the product to be
released.
The making of the ‘out now’ statement was created using
Photoshop and dafont.com. I first visited dafont.com and
decided on the font I was wanting to use in my product
which was then placed on the poster. Secondly, I used the
Rectangle tool to create the boxes behind the words and
rotated them as applicable.
8. Step 5 – Social Media:
I decided to take it upon myself to add more social
media plugs to my poster as opposed to just having the
artists website. The reason behind this is due to the fact
that social media makes a massive impact on a large
segment of peoples lives, specifically those within the
demographic of my target audience. I feel as though
promoting the artists social media sites will rapidly
increase his popularity and the popularity of the
material he produces.
The logos used were found on Google images, used to
represent the different social medias my artist is
affiliated with. The font was simply added using the
Horizontal Type Tool on Photoshop and the colour was
changed as required.
