3. Background Colour:
Tools used:
• Paint bucket tool
Reason:
I chose to make the shade of grey on my digipak
slightly lighter is to make the product look less dull
as this appears to make the product less appealing
therefore the change in shade gives the product
more life and has the potential to attract more
customers.
4. CD Changes:
Reason:
The reason for changing the CD is due to the fact that it did not initially include
original images taken by myself. I also feel as though the second CD fits better
as it conforms to the house style throughout my digipak and also maintains
continuity as a result. The colours are also reversed between the two CD’s
allowing the audience to identify the difference between the CD and DVD
within the digipak.

5. CD/DVD Track Listing:
New:Old:
Reason:
I knew that there would be a CD and DVD in my digipak so had to create a track list
to suit both aspects, listing what would be on each. Initially, I had forgotten to add
the DVD elements of the track list, however, once adding these aspects my product
looked a lot more conventional and therefore industry standard.
6. CD/DVD:
New:
Old:
Reason:
I thought specifying
which CD entailed
which content
allowed my digipak
to look a lot more
industry standard
and conformed to
conventions of the
already existing
products within the
music industry.
7. New Panel
Old: New:
Reason:
The reason I decided to change the inside panel is due to the fact that I decided to
re-arrange my digipak, putting the existing inside panel on the front cover, then
adapting it to make it more industry standard. This meant I then had to create a
new panel. I was given feedback that suggested to put a black overlay on the artists
face to connote the idea that he is no longer existing, linking with the theme of my
video regarding the fact that he dies; creating continuity. This panel creates an
abstract effect that contrasts with the narrative heavy video I chose to create,
therefore showing variation.
8. 1st Draft digipak Vs 2nd Draft:
FRONT PANEL:
Old: New:
I decided to change my front cover to this particular style due to the fact that it is a lot
more expressive with regards to the text used over the eyes of the artist. The use of
the lighter background reduces the dullness of the panel and gives it more life. I
decided to change the text on the cover to the name of the album ‘Love is Blind’ as
opposed to ‘Mac’, the reason I decided to self title the album initially is due to me
being unaware of what to call the album, but as time progressed I thought this
particular name would be more effective.
9. Back Panel:
Old: New:
The same image is used on both products, I have made the opacity a lot less significant in
my second draft therefore making the artist stand out more, giving the panel more
depth, working in combination with the lighter shade of grey. I also removed the blemishes
on the artists face to conform to the shallow perceptions of individuals within the music
industry where imperfections appear to be unacceptable. I also differentiated between the
content on CD1 and the DVD, this was not included on the first draft and I thought it would
be important to add.
10. Inside Panel:
Old: New:
As stated previously, I had to change this panel due to me deciding to feature the inside
panel on the front cover. The second draft of the inside panel is a lot more abstract and I feel
as though it compliments my product as a whole as it makes it a lot more professional and
shows variation in particular concepts of production i.e. the video focuses massively on
narrative, however the ancillary texts present a mixture of narrative and abstract elements.
11. CD’s:
Old:
New:
The first set of CD’s consisted of one
being made from non-original images,
therefore I had to change this
immediately. I chose to create continuity
with regards to the CD’s and create two
that were incredibly similar but different
in colour, reflecting one another
through opposites
The colour scheme used is one that is
maintained throughout the full digipak –
house style. This contributes to the
continuity of my product, making it a lot
more industry standard and therefore
appealing to customers as a result.
