2. The Therapist
• Strengths- Effective use of sound to build
up suspense e.g use of heartbeat and
discordant music. The fade in of the credits
at the start of the film is also effective as
its short and subtle. Over the shoulder shot
use is particularly effective and makes the
audience feel as if they are there.
• Weaknesses- The film as a whole lacks
dialogue which can create confusion about
the plot. There is also an argument to be
made that they have overused the jump
cuts which has made the film disjointed,
however in moderation they work very well
in terms of adding surprises and suspense.
3. The Therapist
• Elements we may use in our film- The
sound of a heartbeat, and one or two
fade outs to black within specific
scenes as we believe this will help to
create a smooth transition for when our
setting changes suddenly during our
film.
• Elements we will try to avoid- overusing
the fade out and jump cut effects, also
the lack of dialogue to the point where
the plot of the film is too ambiguous.
