2. What Are They?
• Credits over a black screen are essentially when the opening credits to a film
are written in white over a black screen.
3. Why Use Them?
• Credits over a black screen are the most simple of all the title sequence
methods but are still very effective. They are most commonly used to convey
bleakness and terror. Films that have used credits over a black screen back up
my points such as Halloween (1978,) Alien.
4. Codes And Conventions Of A Thriller
• Credits over a black screen incorporate the codes and conventions of a
thriller very simply by using the key colours of a thriller ‘black and white.’
The black on white conveys bleakness, suspense and tension. Also the black
and white represents the most important conventions of thrillers ‘good
(white) vs bad (black.)’
5. Why Should WE Use Them?
• Credits over a black screen As I stated before are very effective at conveying
bleakness and terror. They are also very easy to do and can build suspense
slowly, and since our thriller starts slow and builds suspense we most
probably will use credits over a black screen. The idea for our horror thriller
is very much horror based (a horror thriller) for this reason credits over a
black screen will be the most effective since they are the most effective to
provide a sense of horror
