4. What happens in the opening sequence?
Muhammad Ali Vs Joe Frazier
Editor's Notes
“To become a champion, fight one more round” James Corbett, the title for our opening sequence is: One More Round.
Our movie focuses on a young boxer, Michael Carter. When he was young he was the one to watch, he was going to be the best in the world. But he lost it all, during his career he has had a well known heroin addiction. And before the biggest fight of his career he took to drugs to calm himself. This of course didn’t work and he was humiliated. One More Round covers his life after the fight, how he has to bring him and his family back together, and slowly piece his career back together.
Movies that are very similar to ours are: Rocky, which follows the story of an underdog. Raging Bull, about a boxer who’s personal life is a massive struggle. And The Fighter, about a boxer who’s life is also being destroyed by drugs.
The movie opens with a TV, showing Ali Vs Frazier. We chose this match because it shows that an underdog can always win. We then cut to Carter who falls on his bed. We then use flashbacks to show the audience his big fight. We zoom in on Carters face on his bed, cut to him in the boxing ring, 1997 comes up on the bottom of the screen showing that this is the big fight. Carter then is knocked out, he falls, using an Ariel shot we can see the other boxer celebrating and Carter lying in the ring with needle marks up his arm, looking terrible. Cut to him on his bed eyes open, Carter stands up, grabs ipod and leaves room for a run, cut black screen “To become a champion fight One more round” all the words bar One More Round fade leaving the title for the movie.
