Programme on protective measures against
transboundary animal diseases (TADs) in 2019
Objectives under the implementation of the program per each disease are:
• Protection of the susceptible species: Vaccination programme against LSD
of the entire bovine population , as per the provisions of CID 2016/2009
and CID 2016/2008 (since 2018 in separate programme)
• Fast detection of any occurrence of animal contagious disease:
✓ Clinical surveillance of bovine animals for LSD and FMD, small ruminants
for FMD, PPR, SGP;
✓ virological testing for LSD, SGP in case of suspicion
✓ Serological and virological testing of sheep and goats for FMD and PPR,
every three months
• Prompt response to an outbreak.
• Improved preparedness for management and eradication of animal
contagious diseases in case of occurrence.

Risk mitigation (ASF)!
✓ Backyard sector almost completely destroyed – non-popular measures applied.
✓ Reduction of the wild boar population.
✓ Legislation for definition (no more than 3 pigs, no boar and sows, only for all
consumption), rules for registration (simple and easy) and biosecurity as regards
backyards amended and adopted.
✓ Stronger and stricter legislation for biosecurity of industrial farms.
✓ Strict rules for hunting with biosecurity
✓ Hunt app in full operation, accepted and used by hunters
✓ Amendment as regards legislation for compensations in case of epidemics in
process……
✓ SOP for repopulation
All had to happen in the pre-epidemic period!
