2. Why this component
• RVF – serious zoonotic disease with
severe impacts on livestock
production and trade
• Multiple outbreaks in Uganda since
March 2016 – impacts not yet
quantified
• Geographical range of the disease
slowly expanding with climate
change
• Poor understanding on occurrence
patterns and relative effectiveness of
the available interventions
• OIE notifiable disease

Districts that have reported RVF outbreaks in Uganda

3. What we want to achieve
• Minimize the impacts of RVF by improving
capacity for surveillance and response at the
national and community levels
o Better risk prediction
o Evidence-based disease control polices
o Improved awareness about the disease

• Human/animal health service providers
