2. • This magazine advert of Jay Z’s album “The Blueprint 3” shows
the same image as the album cover: instruments piled together.
This is quite a modern image, like a piece of art. This is what Jay Z
wanted people to think of his music, as if it was art. The three red
lines printed on the front stand out from the white instruments
and show the fact it is the third album.
• Jay Z, the artists name is printed at the top of the advert to help
promote himself, however the image and three red lines are the
focal point of the advert to allow people to recognise it. As Jay Z
is a very well known, popular artist he does not need to use an
image of himself to promote himself and the album.
• The most popular singles are written at the bottom of the advert
“Run this town” and “D.O.A Death of Autotune”. This allows
people to recognise that these songs are featured in the album
and will make them want to purchase it. The release date is
written in a larger font at the bottom of the page to allow people
to see it easier. Jay Z’s website “www.jayz.com” is placed under
the release date, to allow people to find more information about
the artist and album.
• This advert is not a stereotypical Hip Hop advert but is still
effective to people. It is laid out professionally and allows the
audience to easily identify the album, artist and want to buy the
album. Stereotypical Hip Hop adverts show an image of the artist
wearing expensive clothes and lots of jewellery, this however is
still an effective advert.
