1. This is the front and back cover of a
music magazine. Jay-Z is heavily
featured throughout this issue of the
magazine due to his new album
being released.
The front cover of the magazine is Jay-z
standing in all black clothing with
black sunglasses on. However if you
study the image harder you will see
that he is actually towering what
seems to be sky scrapers giving off
the image that he is the biggest artist
in this genre if music (Hip-Hop) and
still is even though he hasn’t had an
album for a while. It is basically
declaring that he is back and he’s
bigger than ever.
Down the side of the magazine
cover is a list of things Jay-Z
has, it is trying to say he has
everything. 14 Albums. 30
million copies sold, his own
fragrances and of course
Beyoncé, his wife. It also says
underneath ‘is Jay-Z bigger
than hip-hop?’ Which entices
the audience to read the
article in the magazine. The
fact that Jay-Z is standing
taller than the skyscrapers it
leads me to believe that the
answer to the question is yes.
The front cover of the magazine is all in grey and
dull colours apart from the title of the magazine
and the artist’s name, Jay-Z which is in red which
is associated with death therefore it is boosting
Jay-Z’s reputation for people being scared of him
as all Hip-Hop artists want. The red gives off great
affect to anyone who is glimpsing at the magazine.
Apart from the few words the whole of the
magazine cover is in grey and other dull colours
apart from Jay-Z who is in colour. This gives off a
great affect that he is glowing over the top of the
city meaning he is back to take over the city.
The rear of the magazine cover is an
exact copy of the front cover to his new
album with a date at the bottom, which
I presume is the release date to his new
album. Above the date is also the name
of the album which people need to
know if they re to purchase the album.
The format on the rear of the magazine and
therefore the album cover is the same as the
front cover to the magazine. The whole thing is
grey and full of other dark colours with little
bits of red to give off affect. The only bits that
are red are the record label name and the three
red stripes in the centre of the album
cover/advert.
At the top of the album cover/advert is
the artists name in big black bold
writing so that people instantly
recognise what artist this album is
from. The big black bold writing
connotes the reputation of the artist,
not being mainstream and doing what
all other artists are doing. His
reputation is that he is a serious Hip-
Hop artist and according to the front
cover he is one of the biggest and best
artists in the genre.
The record label is in red also to boost
their popularity because they’re
working with such a huge celebrity,
Jay-Z. Due to the fact that the album
cover copy is printed on the last page of
the magazine it means that that will be
the last thing the audience of the
magazine will see so therefore it will be
the thing that stays in their mind for
the longest.
