2. Body Language
The body language portrayed by my artist is different in every
single picture within ‘Authentic’. This shows that the artist is
very motivated in life and on taking the photos. As most artist
may be to tired due to there full schedule to even give it there
all in photo shoots. This can give a strict representation of the
social group I’m aiming at, as they can associate with the artist
motivation as there motivated to be successful as well. He
also praying in one of the pictures which can represent the
audience who go to church to pray for better health and life.
3. Facial Expressions
The facial expression in all of my photos are very minimalistic,
this is due to wanting to my sunglasses. I feel this represents
my social group as they can associate with an artist who is
very serious, instead of a clown who is smiling in every picture
which may cause an offense to the rap game.
4. Costume
I used two effective accessories which help to give me artist
that celebrity feel. These where sunglasses (ray-bans) and a
wooly hat. It weird how just two items can transform
someone into a new person. This represents my social group
as most rap artists they look up to gain their up most respect
from the way they dress. Therefore my artist is dressed in a
way, in which the target audience may be inspired to copy the
look of the outfit, as these are the clothes do like.
5. Mode Of Address
The mode of address I used throughout my double page
spread was a lot of colloquial language, as not only is it a hip
hop/rap magazine the youth of today can associate much
heavily to that language. This will help them feel at home
when reading the article. Although there is a lot of standard
English in the article, so if a social group which I’m not
targeting at picks up the magazine, they don’t get lost when
reading the feature.
6. The Reader (Psychographics)
My intended group I’m aiming at is the reformers, as the
whole outlook of the magazine fits into their characteristics. I
have also made the artist a reformer (from the way he talks to
the way he poses) so they can emphasize with the magazine
even more. As he seeks freedom on the type of music he
makes, and has gone through a major personal growth
throughout his life. He also takes time when releasing music,
so to some degree he selects music of a high quality, these are
all traits of a reformer so they are heavily represented by the
artist.
7. Gender
I definitely represented a male audience as all my photos is of
a model which is a male. This is down to the fact, that this is
my target audience. He represents a normal male who has a
talent and has achieved something major.
8. Ethnicity
My model black so I represented a social group of a black
ethnic background. I had to fit in the stereotype of a hip
hop/rap artist, as it would be very weird to feature a white
model on the first ever issue. Therefore I feel my model
represents my targeted social group.
9. Representation
Overall I strongly feel as if the magazine but most important
my model represents my social group. As this is a black hard
working male tackling the world by storm. Driving to be a
successful strong black male, which basically sums up my
intended social group aim in life. There isn’t much difference
between my intended audience and my celebrity beside the
clothing, which was what I was trying to go for. This shows
that with enough work you can achieve goals like him. I
followed the stereotype which I felt was needed to represent
such a core social group, from the costume, body language
down to the ethnicity.
