1) A football team is in a position to kick a field goal to win a
game. The ball is placed 36 m (approximately 39 yards) from
the goalposts. The kicker kicks the ball with a resultant velocity
of 20 m/s at an angle of 33°.
List your knowns: (2 pts)
What was the initial horizontal velocity? (2 pts)
What was the initial vertical velocity? (2 pts)
How long was the ball in the air (total flight time)? (4 pts)
What was the horizontal distance traveled? Did they win? (4
pts)
Calculate the following quantities for the diagram shown below:
(16 points total)
a. The angular velocity at the hip over each time interval (6
points)
b. The angular velocity at the knee over each time interval (6
points)
Would it be meaningful information to calculate the average
angular velocities at the hip and knee for the movement shown?
Provide a rationale for your answer. (4 points)
A soccer ball is kicked from the playing field. If the ball is in
the air for 2.2 s (total flight time), what is the maximum height
achieved? (4 points) (neglect air resistance)
Two cyclists B1 and B2) are racing at exactly the same velocity
(say, 12 m/s) and come to a curve in the road (point A). At this
point they are tied. Throughout the first half of the curve
(points A-C), it appears that the cyclist in the outside lane (B2)
remains tied with the cyclist in the inside lane (B1). Assume
that the cyclist in the inside lane (B1) maintains a constant
velocity. Using terms such as “constant”, “zero”, “same”,
“increase”, “decrease”, “positive”, “negative” etc. answer the
following questions:
a) What are the differences (if any) between the lineardistances
traveled by the cyclists between points A and C. List the
equation that explains this. (4 points)

There has been a need for diversification in the company. There
is needed to prove the importance of training the employees and
the interns before they travel to the United Arab Emirates. This
is very important, as it will enable transition of the workers into
the new cultures to be easy. The main objective for the training
is to ensure that the new working environment does not provide
culture shock to the employees that will be traveling to the
United Arab Emirates. By training, these workers on their new
environment may help the company to enjoy a smooth transition
into the areas as the areas experience cultural sensitivity, which
if not properly handled will lead to poor business performance.
Analysis of the audience and their expectations
The primary audience of this research will comprise the top-
level executives in charge of diversification and policy
formation. These include John Smith who is the chief executive
officer; Joseph Stevens who is the chief operating officer
together with Robert Morris who is the chief information
officer. This group is in need of this report in order to
determine if it is profitable for the company to invest in the
United Arab Emirates.
The secondary audience is comprised of the implementers of the
decisions made by the management body. This will include the
middle level managers responsible for the implementation of the
set out goals. Among this the five hundred employees of the
company are also part of the secondary audience. The hundred
employees communicating with the internet internationally form
part of the secondary audience. This group will be view the
information in the report to be in formed in the details of the
expansion.
Generally, the information in this audience will be used to
ensure the expansion adjustments into United Arab Emirates
will be in an efficient and a productive manner as well. It will
facilitate the addressing of issues pertaining to business issues,
the intended goals of the business, the culture in the United
Arab Emirates, the communication in their languages, also the
required travelling information. All this information will be
provided to the audience by the report.
Summary of key points
1. Security, crime, and/or attitudes and norms concerning
women
The security handling in the UAE is different compared to the
one in the USA. In 1993 Sheikh Saif introduced community
policing. This led to the formation of the institute of community
policing which is set to oversee the training of the community
inn policing and problem solving. As per the provided records,
crime in the UAE is said to be low. However, it is difficult to
ascertainthese claims. Due to the nature of the security system,
it is difficult to have cases reported. However, being a young
nation crime is low compared to the United. Women in the
United Arab Emirates are not treated equally as men. In cases of
security, they are not allowed to file cases as they may be seen
to embarrass their husbands. Proper caution should be taken
when sending the female employees in this nation States (In
Caneppele, In Calderoni, & Savona, 2014, p. 26).
2. Politics
The UAE since its establishment in the year 1971 has enjoyed
adequate political stability. This is due to their political
establishment that combines both the traditional and modern
systems of governance. The country enjoys a modern political
structure while at the same time appreciating their own
traditional structures of governance as the best practices are
retained and maintained. The politics in the nation have adopted
both the federal, presidential and monarch systems of
governance that act simultaneously (Abed, I., &Hellyer, 2001,
p.156).
3. Attitudes toward foreigners, particularly U.S. citizens
The citizens in the UAE are aware of the nature and behaviors
of the foreigners in their country. Regardless of the varied
cultures, they belief they have the ability to minimize or limit
the influence that the foreign cultures bring into play at their
country. It is however important to note that there has been
concern on the behaviors of the foreign citizens as behaviors
such as consumption of alcohol and its sale in traduces a
controversial aspect in the Arabic culture as the sale of alcohol
is controlled and limited. However, the knowledge that the
foreign citizens control their economy forces them to welcome
the foreigners in their country (Lipton, 2002, p. 113).

In addition to this first page, which is your Executive
Summary, write an APA-formatted report (8 pages including the
Executive Summary memo) that includes:
· o APA-formatted title page
· o No more than one page Executive Summary (following the
title page).
· o Glossary of terms (if needed).
· o Reference page in APA format (final page of the report).
· o Appropriate illustrations in addition to the pages of content
in the report.
· Single space within paragraphs and skip a space in between
paragraphs.

· Use headings and subheadings effectively.
Description:
Scenario:You are the intern coordinator for an IT consulting
company that specializes in working with entrepreneurial global
clients. Although the three partners have been impressed with
the internship program you set up this year, the international
incident in Country X cost the firm substantial money and
generated negative publicity. Upon your return from Country X,
the partners informed you that your program will be eliminated,
and they don’t have another position to offer because you are
not an IT consultant.
Your only hope to save your job is to convince the partners that
you can train the interns before they travel to foreign countries.
Robert Morris reminded you again in another private meeting
that the report must be written in the APA format, The partners
describe what they want to see in this sample report.
Audience for the Report:
Although the transmittal memo is written to the partners, the
audience for the report will be the employees and interns
because you will eventually use this report as the material for a
training session.
Your task is to convince the partners that you can train the
employees and interns before they travel to a particular foreign
country. The audience expects a factual report that sheds light
on the economic, political, and social environment in that
country to help them make an informed decision about doing
business or sending employees or interns there. John Smith is
enthusiastic about your proposal to write an informative report
about customs in the country and subsequently set up a cultural
training program for interns and employees, but Joseph Stevens
is not. Of course, John is retiring, so his vote counts less.
However, Robert Morris recommends that you write a proposal
to describe the audiences for the report and the content that
would subsequently be taught. He is asking for a research paper
on one nation with respect to how its culture differs from ours
to help the executives decide whether to do business in the
country.
Top level executives who are responsible for devising strategies
and formulating policies to ensure that all goals and objectives
are met include John Smith, Chief Executive Officer; Joseph
Stevens, Chief Operating Officer; and Robert Morris, Chief
Information Officer. This group consists of motivated readers
who are in need of the report to make important business
decisions. The company contains 500 employees, 20 of which
would be slated to go overseas. Ten employees would conduct
business development (sales) and 10 would conduct project
implementation which would require working closely with top
and mid-level managers in the corporate headquarters and inside
a factory in that country. In addition, once project
implementation is underway, at least 100 of the employees
would be interacting with the employees in the other country
via email, skype, and the internet.
The sections of the report should describe the cultural customs
in one nation and show how they are the same or different from
our own customs. You have to persuade the partners that this
information can be used to train the employees and interns to
act appropriately in public and in business meetings.
The partners require that you cover at leastthree of the
following sections in this sample Global Business Report:
· Climate
· Nonverbal communication/Language/attire
· Politics
· Religion (can branch into attire, etc.)
· Food/social etiquette/dining
· Security, crime, and/or attitudes and norms concerning women
· Attitudes toward foreigners, particularly U.S. citizens.
· However, other information/topics may be included if you
clear them with me.
· The report should describe
· the cultural customs in one nation you select and show how
they are the same or different from our own customs, and which
audiences for the report will be most impacted by the variance
in customs from our own
· what happens when our employees/interns do not understand
the customs and commit faux pas and the impact that can have
on business interactions (for example, one of the employees
responsible for sales does not follow a custom of the country
and commits a major or minor faux pas),
· what adaptations company employees must make when they
interact with the individuals they do business with in the
foreign country in order to carry out business successfully
(weave in examples from your company employees working
closely inside a factory in that country with employees from the
country).
Illustrations:
In addition to the one-two pages of words in the memo, include
appropriate illustrations. These illustrations may be inserted in
the appropriate paragraphs and/or at the end of the memo.

  • 1. 1) A football team is in a position to kick a field goal to win a game. The ball is placed 36 m (approximately 39 yards) from the goalposts. The kicker kicks the ball with a resultant velocity of 20 m/s at an angle of 33°. List your knowns: (2 pts) What was the initial horizontal velocity? (2 pts) What was the initial vertical velocity? (2 pts) How long was the ball in the air (total flight time)? (4 pts) What was the horizontal distance traveled? Did they win? (4 pts) Calculate the following quantities for the diagram shown below: (16 points total) a. The angular velocity at the hip over each time interval (6 points) b. The angular velocity at the knee over each time interval (6 points) Would it be meaningful information to calculate the average angular velocities at the hip and knee for the movement shown?
  • 2. Provide a rationale for your answer. (4 points) A soccer ball is kicked from the playing field. If the ball is in the air for 2.2 s (total flight time), what is the maximum height achieved? (4 points) (neglect air resistance)
  • 3. Two cyclists B1 and B2) are racing at exactly the same velocity (say, 12 m/s) and come to a curve in the road (point A). At this point they are tied. Throughout the first half of the curve (points A-C), it appears that the cyclist in the outside lane (B2) remains tied with the cyclist in the inside lane (B1). Assume that the cyclist in the inside lane (B1) maintains a constant velocity. Using terms such as “constant”, “zero”, “same”, “increase”, “decrease”, “positive”, “negative” etc. answer the following questions: a) What are the differences (if any) between the lineardistances traveled by the cyclists between points A and C. List the equation that explains this. (4 points) B1 B1 B2 B1 B2 B2 b) What are the differences (if any) between the tangential (linear) velocities of the cyclists at points A and C. List the equation that explains this. (4 points)
  • 4. c) What are the differences (if any) between the tangential (linear) accelerations of the cyclists between points A and C. List the equation that explains this. (4 points) d) What is the difference (if any) between the radialacceleration of B1 at points A and C. What is the difference (if any) between the radialacceleration of B2 at points A and C. List the equation that explains this. (4 points) MEMORANDUM To: John Smith, Joseph Stevens, and Robert Morris, Partners From: Date: Subject: There has been a need for diversification in the company. There is needed to prove the importance of training the employees and the interns before they travel to the United Arab Emirates. This is very important, as it will enable transition of the workers into the new cultures to be easy. The main objective for the training is to ensure that the new working environment does not provide culture shock to the employees that will be traveling to the
  • 5. United Arab Emirates. By training, these workers on their new environment may help the company to enjoy a smooth transition into the areas as the areas experience cultural sensitivity, which if not properly handled will lead to poor business performance. Analysis of the audience and their expectations The primary audience of this research will comprise the top- level executives in charge of diversification and policy formation. These include John Smith who is the chief executive officer; Joseph Stevens who is the chief operating officer together with Robert Morris who is the chief information officer. This group is in need of this report in order to determine if it is profitable for the company to invest in the United Arab Emirates. The secondary audience is comprised of the implementers of the decisions made by the management body. This will include the middle level managers responsible for the implementation of the set out goals. Among this the five hundred employees of the company are also part of the secondary audience. The hundred employees communicating with the internet internationally form part of the secondary audience. This group will be view the information in the report to be in formed in the details of the expansion. Generally, the information in this audience will be used to ensure the expansion adjustments into United Arab Emirates will be in an efficient and a productive manner as well. It will facilitate the addressing of issues pertaining to business issues, the intended goals of the business, the culture in the United Arab Emirates, the communication in their languages, also the required travelling information. All this information will be provided to the audience by the report. Summary of key points 1. Security, crime, and/or attitudes and norms concerning women The security handling in the UAE is different compared to the one in the USA. In 1993 Sheikh Saif introduced community policing. This led to the formation of the institute of community
  • 6. policing which is set to oversee the training of the community inn policing and problem solving. As per the provided records, crime in the UAE is said to be low. However, it is difficult to ascertainthese claims. Due to the nature of the security system, it is difficult to have cases reported. However, being a young nation crime is low compared to the United. Women in the United Arab Emirates are not treated equally as men. In cases of security, they are not allowed to file cases as they may be seen to embarrass their husbands. Proper caution should be taken when sending the female employees in this nation States (In Caneppele, In Calderoni, & Savona, 2014, p. 26). 2. Politics The UAE since its establishment in the year 1971 has enjoyed adequate political stability. This is due to their political establishment that combines both the traditional and modern systems of governance. The country enjoys a modern political structure while at the same time appreciating their own traditional structures of governance as the best practices are retained and maintained. The politics in the nation have adopted both the federal, presidential and monarch systems of governance that act simultaneously (Abed, I., &Hellyer, 2001, p.156). 3. Attitudes toward foreigners, particularly U.S. citizens The citizens in the UAE are aware of the nature and behaviors of the foreigners in their country. Regardless of the varied cultures, they belief they have the ability to minimize or limit the influence that the foreign cultures bring into play at their country. It is however important to note that there has been concern on the behaviors of the foreign citizens as behaviors such as consumption of alcohol and its sale in traduces a controversial aspect in the Arabic culture as the sale of alcohol is controlled and limited. However, the knowledge that the foreign citizens control their economy forces them to welcome the foreigners in their country (Lipton, 2002, p. 113). Schedule of tasks

MEMORANDUM To: John Smith, Joseph Stevens, and Robert Morris, Partners (include their titles) From: Xxxxxxx Xxxxxxxxx Date: Subject: In addition to this first page, which is your Executive Summary, write an APA-formatted report (8 pages including the Executive Summary memo) that includes: · o APA-formatted title page · o No more than one page Executive Summary (following the title page). · o Glossary of terms (if needed). · o Reference page in APA format (final page of the report). · o Appropriate illustrations in addition to the pages of content in the report. · Single space within paragraphs and skip a space in between paragraphs. · Use a Size 12 Times New Roman or Calibri font. · Use headings and subheadings effectively. Description: Scenario:You are the intern coordinator for an IT consulting company that specializes in working with entrepreneurial global
  • 9. clients. Although the three partners have been impressed with the internship program you set up this year, the international incident in Country X cost the firm substantial money and generated negative publicity. Upon your return from Country X, the partners informed you that your program will be eliminated, and they don’t have another position to offer because you are not an IT consultant. Your only hope to save your job is to convince the partners that you can train the interns before they travel to foreign countries. Robert Morris reminded you again in another private meeting that the report must be written in the APA format, The partners describe what they want to see in this sample report. Audience for the Report: Although the transmittal memo is written to the partners, the audience for the report will be the employees and interns because you will eventually use this report as the material for a training session. Your task is to convince the partners that you can train the employees and interns before they travel to a particular foreign country. The audience expects a factual report that sheds light on the economic, political, and social environment in that country to help them make an informed decision about doing business or sending employees or interns there. John Smith is enthusiastic about your proposal to write an informative report about customs in the country and subsequently set up a cultural training program for interns and employees, but Joseph Stevens is not. Of course, John is retiring, so his vote counts less. However, Robert Morris recommends that you write a proposal to describe the audiences for the report and the content that would subsequently be taught. He is asking for a research paper on one nation with respect to how its culture differs from ours to help the executives decide whether to do business in the country. Top level executives who are responsible for devising strategies and formulating policies to ensure that all goals and objectives are met include John Smith, Chief Executive Officer; Joseph
  • 10. Stevens, Chief Operating Officer; and Robert Morris, Chief Information Officer. This group consists of motivated readers who are in need of the report to make important business decisions. The company contains 500 employees, 20 of which would be slated to go overseas. Ten employees would conduct business development (sales) and 10 would conduct project implementation which would require working closely with top and mid-level managers in the corporate headquarters and inside a factory in that country. In addition, once project implementation is underway, at least 100 of the employees would be interacting with the employees in the other country via email, skype, and the internet. The sections of the report should describe the cultural customs in one nation and show how they are the same or different from our own customs. You have to persuade the partners that this information can be used to train the employees and interns to act appropriately in public and in business meetings. The partners require that you cover at leastthree of the following sections in this sample Global Business Report: · Climate · Nonverbal communication/Language/attire · Politics · Religion (can branch into attire, etc.) · Food/social etiquette/dining · Security, crime, and/or attitudes and norms concerning women · Attitudes toward foreigners, particularly U.S. citizens. · However, other information/topics may be included if you clear them with me. · The report should describe · the cultural customs in one nation you select and show how they are the same or different from our own customs, and which audiences for the report will be most impacted by the variance in customs from our own · what happens when our employees/interns do not understand the customs and commit faux pas and the impact that can have on business interactions (for example, one of the employees
  • 11. responsible for sales does not follow a custom of the country and commits a major or minor faux pas), · what adaptations company employees must make when they interact with the individuals they do business with in the foreign country in order to carry out business successfully (weave in examples from your company employees working closely inside a factory in that country with employees from the country). Illustrations: In addition to the one-two pages of words in the memo, include appropriate illustrations. These illustrations may be inserted in the appropriate paragraphs and/or at the end of the memo.
