This document outlines a 5-day unit plan for teaching 7th grade students about the Holocaust. On day 1, students will have a class discussion and view a PowerPoint to gain background knowledge. Day 2 involves watching a YouTube video about the Holocaust. Day 3 consists of listening to interviews from Holocaust victims and Nazi soldiers to learn different perspectives. On day 4, students will read articles in small groups and write reflections. To finish, day 5 will be spent watching the film The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and discussing it as a class. Technology like a Smart board, computer, and rearranging furniture will enhance the lessons.

2. Analyze the Learner
• General Classroom- 7th Grade: 20 students (10 girls,
10, boys) 8 Caucasian, 12 African American.
• Learning Competencies: Students should have a
general idea of the Holocaust and World War II.
• Learning Styles: Some students are both visual and
auditory learners.

3. Objective
• All students will begin to understand and
analyze the Holocaust through the use of
readings, videos, pictures, and a general class
discussion with a presentation.

4. Day by Day
• 1: Start with a class discussion about the Holocaust and a PowerPoint
presentation to give the students a background of information.
• 2: Watch YouTube video about the Holocaust in general.
• 3: Listen to Holocaust victim/ Nazi soldier interviews to gain different
perspectives.
• 4: Have students placed in small groups to read an article and write
reflections.
• 5: Have students watch The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and then follow
with class discussion.

5. Use of Technology
• Class will use Smart board with the projector to view the
PowerPoint presentation, video, interviews, and movie.
• The computer will be used to print Holocaust article.
• Students will rearrange the classroom to set up in
groups.
