3. Idea Generation
For this project I have a variety of artists I
could use, such as my local friends including
me that have produced music and are will
to create a music video. I would produce my
own music video for my song but I feel that
I would hate it by the end and would never
properly release it.
I have also gained a variety of ideas to do
with certain artists that could work very
well. This is because I was thinking of
abandoned locations and also unique and
different locations for the music video.

Basic Idea
• I want to film so different and unique shots that will
work very well for the type of song. The type of song
that will be playing in music video for the whole
duration will be a song produced by one of my
friends called ben(lux). I have chosen to use him for
my idea because his music type of different and
unique and will be something no one has ever done
for his unreleased song. I want to do this also
because it will work very well for the experiment and
also for the final product for this project.
• When filming this I want to do a variety of
techniques and different ways of using the camera. I
want to use the camera to film some of it upside
down with an effect with short cuts and fading
transitions. I also want to do this because me and my
artist want to make the music video different and a
bit funky.

• One strength of my production will be the way we will be filing the shots for my production,
this is because I have come up with some unique shots that will fit the song perfectly. Another
strength of my summary of my ideas will be that we have most things planned and have a car
available to use when we are ready, we could also use this car In the music video. One other
strength I have is that I have equipment to use when I'm ready such as cameras and props.
Another strength of my production will be that I have practiced my production before and I
have finalized with the artist what we want to do in person. The last strength of my product is
that we have people that can come to help with props and equipment meaning it will be a
large amount of footage and positions.

• One weakness of my production will be that we may not have a car over the few days we want
to produce the music video. Another of the weakness of my ideas will be that not everyone
will show up because of the location or the time and day. One other weakness of my ideas are
that we not have all the equipment that we need on the day and we may be struck with
filming. Another weakness of my ideas are that we may not have enough time to change things
for the music video and also have enough time to edit and master the music video. The final
weakness of my production will be that I may not have enough space on my SD cards to film
the day of filming and may lose out on footage from the day.

9. Final idea – artist/title/info
• The name of my artist is Luxumlux and the track we are doing is a
song called Hi!!, I have decided to use this artist because he has a
different type of genre within his music, this is because he has a
variety of different styles. This works very well for me because it
opens up the options for the music video production. I found out of
about his music from meeting him in person and his following of
SoundCloud. We were both interested in each others music. He links
to some underground such as Joji and also a mix of the indie and rap
type of music. He has a mix of different genres that are used in his
music, it could vary from pop to indie rap. This variety works well for
gaining a better audience.

10. Final idea – track summary
The Duration: 1:53 and the pace of the song is quick but is easily
understandable with good content. The main meaning behind the song is
that he was bored at his friends and wanted to make something talking
about nowadays rappers and how they always “flex”. Flex basically means
that people with a lot of money show what they have bought. The style of
the song varies because of the bass line but also lux’s voice, it could be a
chilled indie song but the bass and rhythm brings the song back up with
fastness and bass.

• Your creative concept/video synopsis [describe your
interpretation, use of imagery or narrative, genre
conventions, etc]
• What I want from this music video is a different and a
creative concept, this is because I want different shots
that will make the music video unique and different. I
will do this by filming in different locations such as
building and also filming some of the video upside down
with water poring so it seems the water is rising. My
interpretation of the song is that It is a creative mind
field for video production, this is because of the unique
sound track. Through the center of the track there is a
chill and vibe moment. I wanted to do some running
shots with cameras backwards.

12. Final idea – techniques and styles
• Video techniques/style/conventions to be used [include how you
intend to implement these]
• I want to use a rig for the camera shoots filming the video so it can be
sturdy and to a good standard of product, I will do this because it will
make the video more professional and clean. I also want to use
different equipment such as GoPros and a drone. We have all of
these available at our use so I could make this happen and I will
because I want this music video to look well and to a good standard
for my product. I also want the style of the video to be a mix between
a rap video and also indie style of music video. I will want a lot of
transitions in the editing side of things with some effects to make the
recordings look more crisp and effective.

• I think it will look more unique if use the equipment I have available, this
is a strength of my production because it may give me the footage I need
rather than not having the equipment that couldn’t provided to quality I
need. Another strength of my product that I have is that I have any
people that are available to help me with the production and the filming
to make this product to a professional standard that I can be happy with
and that it is clean and clear.

• I think that one of my weakness of my product that I will be doing is that
some people may not come to the locations meaning I wont have all of
the equipment that I need to make it with what I am imagining. Another
weakness of my summary is that I may run out of battery power because
we will be using a lot of cameras that all need batteries and full charge.

14. Potential research targets
• I will need to research different locations that I will be able to film in
that isn’t restricted and can be legally filmed in so there wont be any
trouble when taken the clips for the final edit. I will have to make
sure I have all the resources for the equipment for my product and
that I have all of the people In the same location so everything can go
right without any mistakes. I want to research different styles of
filming music videos so I can have a variety of different angles that
aren’t used that much and can make my work completely unique.
This will also give me skills that I will be using for my final major
project.
