2. Production techniques research
• Research potential production techniques you might want to use or
feel would be most appropriate – these can be related to camera,
editing, story, sound, etc
• You should look at a minimum of 3 related products in your research.
• You should collect clips/still images/how to guides/etc that might
help you. When watching scenes from films, etc you could also ask
potential target audience what they think.
• You may need to add extra slides!
• With each technique you should assess whether you can use it or
how you might employ or why you may want to disregard it
completely
• Always think about your investigations links to your intentions and
production!

3. Product 1 -
• In this music video it has a line of symmetry through most of the
video allowing the scene to look filled with people when in reality
there is only half the fans on one side which allows the video to be
different and more creative and easier to make as the entire video is
them on a stage at what seems to be a concert. As it'll be interesting
to see if ill be able to do it but it may be to reliant on the editing and
not the video techniques but it is a different edition so I will need to
find out how to edit the symmetrical line

4. Product 2
• The video uses a scene where Liam is sat in a chair which is moving
towards the screen although it looks as if the chair isn't moving just
the background so id like to use this in my video where ill be on a
stool rapping with this effect as this is a good effect to use with the
green screen to create multiple different effects

5. Product 3
• The entire video will be filmed in the same way as logics black
Spiderman song as it follows him walking around and rapping which
is the style I want to create my general idea around as it creates a
quite easy and settling backdrop for most the video but I may use
more of the green to use effects like colours only shining on me and
not the background

6. Genre and artist breakdown
Rap is predominately quite aggressive and uses a lot of bad terminology as it isn't
really used to make points about politics, and other major problems in countries
nowadays until artists like Logic were introduced and with him he created the
emotional song 1-800-273-8255 which is also the number for the suicide
prevention line which is what the song is about as it changed the perception on
rap forever with recent songs by Childish Gambino – this is America which is about
everything wrong which is occurring in America, the pioneer for influential
rap/rappers is Logic which is why I want to take one of his less influential songs
and make it influential. Rap fans in general enjoy rappers who talk about either “
the hood “ or how much money they have but general fans of music enjoy logic
not only for his creative lyrical skills but how influential he is being with songs and
their music videos.

7. Conventions
• Most rappers in their music videos just show off their wealth and
money as logic is one of the only few who doesn’t care about his
money and wealth as he his more of an influencer so he conventions
of his rapping and style is much more different to many other rappers
who just talk about their wealth which is why his music videos are
much more simpler and cheaper to make as one was him on stage an
many others are about him waking around a street rapping which is
the style easiest to recreate. Other artists like Childish Gambino have
created very influential music videos and other rappers are lyrically
talented like Logic, Eminem etc.

8. Genre Chacteristics
• The stereotypical perception on rap and rappers is that they’re very
aggressive and and aren't suitable for kids as such although loads of
musicians are becoming parental advisory whereas all rappers still use bad
terminology some make more influential and powerful music and with that
comes influential and powerful music videos. The reason for me doing a
Logic song is that he goes against the genre stereotypes so it is much easier
to film as he cant afford the clothes the other rappers have and it allows
me to be much more creative with the music video

9. Chosen approach/justification
• I am combining a mixture of Logics styles with effects from indie
songs like wall of glass etc. as well as filming out in a countryside
other than a big city as it allows the backdrops in my videos to be
expressive and as it creates the sense that its just me in all the land
etc. as if it was filmed in york there would be a bystander in every
frame. It alos allows it to be easily made as I live in the countryside
and cant get into a city quite easily

11. Experiment 1 - Process
• What I did to get used to using
a green screen was try to
recreate a scene from wall of
glass by Liam Gallagher as e is
sat in a chair going down a
corridor. This recreation
didn't’t go as well as it could've
done as the filming of the
corridor was on small cart
being pushed down the
corridor but the angle was all
wrong and it wouldn't’t move
in a straight line so next time I
may attach the camera

12. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you include in your final
product?
• I will include the concept of using the green screen to use the chair
scene although the angle will be correct and the backdrop will be in a
more spacious area and in a more pleasing view as the corridor made
it dull and boring whereas if it was filmed outside in area which may
draw the attention away from any mistakes like the countryside
setting and filmed properly.

13. Experiment 2 - Process
• The way I did this was by
searching a YouTube and
discovered that I needed to
click on the segment of the
video then go to effects, search
mirror the drag it onto the
video then make the difference
180 degrees away then pull the
angle of the mirror closer the
person to bring the doubled
image closer .

14. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you include in your final
product?
• I will include the mirror effect when doing a long or wide shot to
spice up the video so its not a boring video of someone rapping in a
suburban area it will show off my premiere skills and make the video
more enjoyable to watch and not make the viewers bored. I may
change the angle the mirror is at so it may be to the left or right but
what id like to is have a double mirror so there may be 4 or me etc.
