Johnny Cash, Stevie Wonder, and Billy Joel are key influences for their iconic music videos, merchandise, and career paths that embraced growth and creativity.
8. Mood Board Analysis
How does your mood board inspire your project?
It inspires me because it shows me what I like and what I don’t want to do, it also helps me choose a
direction to be in because of my chosen path for the FMP. My mood board also inspires me because it
shows me that I should be open and creative with my production, I should make it my own because it is
my decision what I am having to produce. This creativity I have will help me with the design and layout
with plan of my product that I will be creating. My mood also shows me that it will be mainly based
around music and how the merchandise and product work together with the magazines and
advertisement system. The mood board also inspires me to have a different and unique style of product
rather than being like everyone else, this is because I like different ways of producing imagery and video.
This will come into play with my project because of the photography side of production to merge with
the music side of things. The mood board also inspires me to do a lot of the music my own from the use
of fruit loops or other music producing software. I will be producing my own song to use for this project
so it will be different and unique to other peoples work.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
My mood board will influence my final product because it gives me ideas on what I want to produce and
how I will create this to make it my own. It shows me that I like a lot of production with alternative art
and old work of design such as Johnny cash with his iconic middle finger image, this type of image
captured a part of history in music and also the influence it has on other artists and the music system. It
will also influence my final product because it will give me that chance to make my work my own and
how the work will turn out I hope, this is show by my mood board by the unique images of creative arts
and also the different use of fonts. There is also a large influence from the logo design of past artists, I
want to embrace the influence and make the product have a wide variety of logo designs that match me
and the creativity of my work. My mood board makes me want to produce what I liked about my
previous projects and make a whole new design bases and product that I like and have used the skills
that I have gained in the past.
9. Key Influences: Johnny Cash
There are many reasons to use Johnny cash as a main person of my key
influence, this is because he has done many things to do with the choice I
have made for my FMP in real life and has shown how he has done it
throughout his career in music and film. This is shown from the use of
music videos, CD covers and posters, merchandise, music production and
a lot more different ambitious movements. To start with the influence of
Johnny cash I'm going to go into more detail with the style of his music
and how it works with his characteristics. The music he produces shows
that he can produce a song that is simple and effect for his album and
audience. His style resembles a variety of mine because he wants to
make different music and have a variety to his work like me.
He has also placed a lot of influence into my music video that I will be
producing because he makes all of his music videos different and have a
deep and powerful meaning behind them with the use of the music video
“hurt”. This music video creates a emotional and powerful connection to
the audience, this is one of the reasons I am aiming to produce work like
he did but on a smaller scale. For the merchandise he has published his
iconic image of CASH with the colouring and imagery, this is because of
his iconic album/vinyl cover. This powerful image makes me want to
produce something along these lines.
10. Key Influences: Stevie Wonder
There are many reasons to choose Stevie wonder as a key
influencer, this is because he has created and changed the limits of
the music society, this is because of his music style and variety of
skills he has gained over the years of performing and producing
music with the imagery and video. He has produced many things in
his life time such as merchandise, music videos, imagery and many
more. To go into my detail he has done many things that not
people could do with the use of eyes but with his blindness he has
proven everyone wrong.
His iconic imagery of vinyl/CD covers stick in the head of many
people because of his iconic sound and voice. His vinyl covers
inspire me to produce something different and unique to my own
and make the product separate from anything I have produced in
the past. I want to use my skills I have gained to make something
new and unique to my audience.
His merchandise he owns in his name is iconic just because of the
imagery on the front of his face, this is because it is professionally
taken and he has taken time to make something of his own that
works perfectly and fits good with the designs of his image and
how his image influence the work of anyone else with this style of
production.

I feel that Billie Joel is the perfect example of key influencers
because he has done many things within his life time such as Music
videos that are famous and popular around the world, he has also
produced his own merchandise and design that stick in the head of
the audience and work perfectly with his modern and old image.
Billie Joel’s iconic imagery of vinyl/CD covers stick in the head of
many people because of his iconic sound and voice. His vinyl
covers inspire me to produce something different and unique to
my own and make the product separate from anything I have
produced in the past. I want to use my skills I have gained to make
something new and unique to my audience. This works perfectly
with the style of his music and presentable image in the public eye
with the audience.
His merchandise works perfectly with the idea he has about
growing as a artist at the start of his career, his merchandise also
shows he has become such a iconic artist that a name on a t-shirt
with some slight graphics can work so effectively for the product
he has made and the career choices he has decided to make for
the better of his life.
