1. What kind of media institution
might distribute your media
product and why?
2. I researched into many media institutions but the one I
looked into the most was Bauer Media.
Bauer media is a large European based company which
manages a portfolio of more than 600 magazines, over
400 digital products and 50 radio and TV stations around
the world.
Bauer media has a gap in its market for my indie genre.
My indie magazine is very unique and is different to
many of the magazines they already distribute therefore
Indigo would attract a new market for bauer which
would help their coverage. People don’t want to see
bauer always distributing the same types of magazines
as the audience will get bored, so something new and
unique will intrigue the audience, this will also help my
brand.
Not only do I think Bauer would distribute my magazine
because it is different but I also think they would
distribute my magazine as it is similar to other
magazines they distribute such as Q therefore they know
that there is an audience that will definetley be
interested in Indigo.
3. Bauer don’t distribute many indie genre magazines so it would be a change
for them to distribute Indigo.
Indigo is very indie but also contradicts its indie genre by using bright colours
on the front cover such as reds and yellows, but this attracts a wider
audience.
If my magazine wasn’t distributed by Bauer I think Indigo would not be as
successful because of the links bauer has with other magazines and also
because of the connection it has with the USA and the USA would bring a
much wider audience.
