2. For my double page spread I simply
wanted the title of the article to be
Kayyah’s name as she is so big as an artist
that when people see her name they will
instantly want to read. I made the title
stand out by putting a black background
behind it and using a brighter blue for
Kayyah’s name than the other blues I used
in the article.
The introduction to my double page
spread is in blue so that it stands out from
the rest of the text and so the audience
know that, that is my introduction.
Most double page spreads especially in indie magazines have the main image of their double page
spread taking up one whole page and then have the text on the opposite page but to fit all my text
on and to use up more room on my double page spread of other things, I decided to make the
main image take up only half of one side. The picture I took of emily originally had the same
background as the picture I took of Kayyah, so I decided to change the colour in photoshop, I
wanted to go for something unique for a background so I went for green, although I’m hoping the
audience won’t mistake it for a green screen. I am pleased with how I used the colours of my text
by using blue to highlight key words. I used “I can be quite hard to understand” as the pull quote
for 2 reasons. 1. The audience will see this and want to know what is so hard to understand about
Kayyah and want to read on and 2. because I think my audience will find this quote very relatable.
Lastly I added in the twitter bar at the far right hand side, so that Kayyah could answer her fans
questions. A lot of magazines have this and fans will be pleased to see her answering questions.
