The top grossing thrillers are rated PG-13 in the US or 12 in the UK. This 
indicates the largest demographic for this genre are teenagers. 
However, this age rating also allows for the inclusion of an adult age 
group allowing the widest possible audience access to the film.
The Viewer 
 This is my concept of my target audience. 
The target 
demographic 
is 12 – 18 years 
old because 
that is the 
largest 
cinema-going 
audience and 
statistics show 
that the most 
common age 
rating in the 
genre is PG- 
13/12. 
He is male because 
most viewers of 
thrillers are male 
I chose his clothes 
because most teenagers 
work in uniform and so 
wear casual clothes in 
their downtime. Because 
the target audience is 
generally is the B and A 
audience groups their 
clothes will be high 
quality and expensive. 
His hair is 
black because 
he is young 
and so his hair 
hasn’t 
changed 
colour yet 
His phone shows his affinity 
with technology and his 
integration with the media 
industry and marketing. This 
shows he is ready to consume 
the product.
