1. HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA
PRODUCT REPRESENT
PARTICULAR SOCIAL
GROUPS?
Question 2
2. Who have I represented?
Teenagers/Young adults
Male and female
Aspirers
Musicians
Intelligent and sophisticated young adults
Middle class
3. Alternative Representative
My magazine is for an uncommon
or unusual genre and age group
It challenges the dominant
representation as the general view
of teenagers is that they cause
trouble
This shows people that not all young
adults are radicals
With the model being dressed
sensibly and the article being about
her great accomplishments, this
connotes a range of passionate
and intelligent readers.
4. How have I represented them?
IMAGE
The photographs were taken in a
studio showing sophistication and
high class
The angle is a straightforward shot,
showing just the model
Clothing is smart and connotes
sensible teenagers
This challenges the dominant
ideology of young adults
5. How have I represented them?
CONTENT
The title shows that it is for
young people due to it being
called ‘JAZZ WORLD’
With the genre being jazz, it
connotes the audience will be
small in young people
The features in the magazine
are uncommon in mainstream
magazines.
Many people may not know
who the ‘First lady of song’ is,
therefore this shows a specific
target audience.
6. Choices and outcomes..
Looking at magazines such
as ‘JAZZIZ’ has helped to
make the final outcome.
The layout, picture, fonts
and text have all been my
own developments of ideas
from actual magazines. I
have developed them as it
needs to represent a
particular social group.
Other magazines do not
have the same social
groups as mine, so
interpreting ideas was key in
helping me with production.
