2. What Different Social group is
Represented?
The general group that is represented is young a Young male
audience. This said, I do believe there is definitely an audience for
young females, although I do see this more as a male dominated
genre of music. In terms of social groups the magazine will appeal
to several different styles of people ranging from rockers to reggae
fans. The magazine also represents aspiring producers and Dj’s as it
contains several regular features that provide information about
specific equipment.
3. What way are they represented?
The social groups are represented at individual, ively and out
going, this is because of the individuality of the genre of music
and also because of the bright colors portrayed throughout the
magazine. ‘Watch your Dubstep’ magazine also reperesnts the
underdogs and the underground grime scene and the people
who are a part of it, it does this through the dark, gritty colors and
purely the nature if the music.
4. How is this Representation shown?
The mise en scene shows a boy of around 16-20 years old
with a rebellious style unshaven face and a typical rocker
haircut and dress sense. The body language of the person
shows an unconventional position a he is looking away.
The cinematography of the image in the bottom right corner of the
contents page is of a female artist (showing diversity) live on stage. The
lighting behind her has blocked out her face showing a mysterious feel
to her, her music and the people who listen to it (the magazine
audience). On the picture in the top right of the contents page there Is
a the same person as the the cover page sat at a mixing desk, this set
shows the skill involved in making dubstep and will appeal to an
audience that are interested in making their own music.
5. Why is each social group represented
in tis way?
I represented the social groups through my magazine in this way
because, the social group I targeted was a main part of my
target audience and by using conventional stereotypes I
wanted to be able to represent and attract the audience more
officially. By representing them as a positive bunch of people I
was able to attract the audience and make them feel like the
magazine was the same level and mind frame as them.
