Evaluation – question 7
1. Evaluation – Question 7 How does your media product represent particular social groups?
2. Gender My magazine mainly features female characters. This is because the magazine is mainly aimed at the female audience so they can relate to the artists. Originally my audience for my magazine was males and females. As I created my magazine I realised that it would be more suited to the female audience. Gender is represented in my magazine through many ways. One way in which it is represented is the colour scheme used within the magazine. There are colours that relate more to the female audience such as the use of purple within the magazine. Another way is the layout of the magazine. In an more male related magazine the layout would be quite messy and raw. Whereas my layout is rather neat and thought about.
3. Age My characters featured within my magazine fit the age range of my audience for my magazine. This shows the relationship between the magazine and its reader. My characters are teenagers. Yet they don’t support the stereotypical ‘messy’ and ‘moody’ teenager. My characters match the style of my magazine which is neat and thought about.
4. Class There is only one dominant class featured within my magazine. That is Middle Class. This also relates to the class of the audience who read the magazine. So this also adds to the relationship between the magazine and the reader. Some of my audience is also Working Class but Middle Class is the more dominant one.
5. Ethnicity The ethnicity of the characters used in my magazine is monocultural. So therefore is the most dominant. This reflects on my audience because the dominant ethnicity of my audience is monocultural. This has been effected by their class.
