Who would be the audience for your media
product?
QUESTION 4
Our media product will be aimed at people around the age of 16-40 as our
survey suggests that people between these ages are more likely to be attracted
to films of this genre when they are released in cinemas. We found that this
genre appeals to this age demographic because they are more interested in the
graphic content and the coarse language whereas the older side of the
demographic appreciate the narrative and the character development.
AGE
After we examined the results from our survey, we found that 75% of the
people that preferred thriller films were male. The male audience prefer films
of this genre because they are more attracted to the female characters and the
many action sequences. Although females do like films of this genre, it is clear
that they appeal more to the male demographic.
GENDER
Most people that enjoy this genre fit into the job classification A-C2 because
they are well educated and appreciate the intricate story lines and enjoy trying
to interact with the film and figure out what will happen through the narrative.
People in the classes D & E may not find films of this genre to be as
enjoyable as they may find the plot hard to follow.
CLASS
Our media product will be more appealing to people living in an urban
surrounding as it will be more relatable and would feel plausible as it is set in
an urban area whereas people living in rural areas would find the product to
be more romanticised. People in the United Kingdom or the USA will also
find this more appealing as the language is in English.
LOCATION
We do not feel that ethnicity would create a barrier in finding our product to
be entertaining as there are no prejudices towards any particular ethnicities.
