2. Teen-centred films
The Teen film genre is targeted at teenagers and young
adults in which the plot is based upon the special interests of
teenagers, such as coming of age, first love, rebellion, conflict
with parents, teen angst, and alienation. Often these
normally serious subject matters are presented in a glossy,
stereotyped or trivialized way.
Films in this genre are often set in high schools, or contain
characters that are of high school age. Sexual themes are
also common, as are nudity and crude forms of humour
3. Since the 1950s the film industry saw a market for
teens with a more disposable income and
therefore more money to spend on leisure
activities; largely going to films. Because of the
boom in teen viewers, drive-in movie theatres
were also very popular. Final Destination (2000)
marked a successful revival of teen-centred horror
and since then similar movies have been
produced.

5. My production group have decided to target this
audience. We feel teenagers and young adults are big
consumers of the film industry and feel, we have a large
audience waiting for another exciting teen centred film.
We also feel we can provide certain creative aspects that
an older production team may not be able to bring, as we
are of the same age as our target audience and can relate
more. We hope to incorporate aspects that will sell to our
teens and have already decided to use young actors and
the theme of rebellion, which from research we have
seen is a big appeal to our audience. By combining this
with horror we hope to achieve an exciting piece of work.
8. The collage represents the diversity of young
teenagers today. My film will try and cater to
the wide range of personalities. It will also
incorporate aspects which I have researched,
that relate to teenagers as a whole.
