And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. 2. BAB 1
Gad, anak kesembilan Yakub dan Zilpa.
Gembala dan lelaki kuat tetapi pembunuh di
hati. Ayat 25 adalah definisi kebencian yang
ketara.
1 Salinan perjanjian Gad, apa yang
dikatakannya kepada anak-anaknya, pada
tahun seratus dua puluh lima umurnya,
berkata kepada mereka:
2 Dengarlah, anak-anakku, aku adalah anak
lelaki kesembilan yang lahir kepada Yakub,
dan aku gagah berani dalam memelihara
kawanan domba.
3 Oleh itu aku menjaga kawanan domba
pada waktu malam; dan apabila singa
datang, atau serigala, atau mana-mana
binatang buas ke arah kawanan, saya
mengejarnya, dan mengatasinya, saya
memegang kakinya dengan tangan saya dan
melemparkannya kira-kira satu lontaran
batu, dan membunuhnya.
4 Sekarang Yusuf, saudaraku, sedang
menggembalakan kambing domba bersama
kami selama lebih dari tiga puluh hari, dan
ketika masih muda, dia jatuh sakit karena
panas.
5 Dan dia kembali ke Hebron kepada bapa
kita, yang membaringkannya di dekatnya,
kerana dia sangat mengasihi dia.
6 Dan Yusuf memberitahu ayah kita bahawa
anak-anak Zilpa dan Bilha sedang
menyembelih yang terbaik dari kawanan
domba dan memakannya melawan
penghakiman Ruben dan Yehuda.
7 Kerana dia melihat bahawa aku telah
melepaskan seekor anak domba daripada
mulut seekor beruang, dan membunuh
beruang itu; tetapi telah menyembelih anak
domba itu, dengan berdukacita mengenainya
bahawa ia tidak dapat hidup, dan bahawa
kami telah memakannya.
8 Dan mengenai perkara ini aku murka
kepada Yusuf sehingga hari dia dijual.
9 Dan roh kebencian ada dalam diriku, dan
aku tidak ingin sama ada mendengar tentang
Yusuf dengan telinga, atau melihatnya
dengan mata, kerana dia menegur kami di
muka kami dengan mengatakan bahawa
kami sedang makan daripada kawanan
domba tanpa Yehuda.
10 Kerana apa sahaja yang dikatakannya
kepada bapa kita, dia percaya kepadanya.
11 Sekarang saya mengaku gin saya, anak-
anak saya, bahawa sering kali saya ingin
membunuhnya, kerana saya membenci dia
dari hati saya.
12 Selain itu, aku lebih membenci dia
kerana mimpinya; dan aku ingin menjilat
dia keluar dari negeri orang yang hidup,
seperti lembu menjilat rumput di padang.
13 Dan Yehuda menjual dia secara rahsia
kepada orang Ismael.
14 Demikianlah Allah nenek moyang kita
melepaskan dia dari tangan kita, supaya kita
tidak melakukan pelanggaran hukum yang
besar di Israel.
15 Dan sekarang, anak-anakku, dengarlah
perkataan kebenaran untuk mengerjakan
kesolehan, dan semua hukum Yang Maha
Tinggi, dan jangan sesat melalui roh
kebencian, kerana itu adalah jahat dalam
semua perbuatan manusia.
16 Apa sahaja yang dilakukan oleh orang
yang membencinya, membencinya; dan
walaupun seseorang melakukan hukum
Tuhan, dia tidak memujinya; walaupun
seseorang takut akan Tuhan dan bergembira
dengan kebenaran, ia tidak mengasihinya.
17 Dia meremehkan kebenaran, dia
cemburu kepada orang yang makmur, dia
menyambut keburukan, dia suka
kesombongan, kerana kebencian
membutakan jiwanya; kerana saya juga
kemudian memandang Yusuf.
18 Berhati-hatilah, oleh itu, anak-anak
kebencianku, kerana itu menghasilkan
pelanggaran hukum bahkan terhadap Tuhan
Sendiri.
19 Kerana ia tidak akan mendengar
perkataan perintah-Nya tentang mengasihi
sesama manusia, dan ia berdosa terhadap
Tuhan.
3. 20 Kerana jika seorang saudara tersandung,
ia dengan serta-merta menggembirakan
untuk memaklumkannya kepada semua
orang, dan mendesak agar dia harus
dihakimi kerananya, dan dihukum dan
dihukum mati.
21 Dan jika itu adalah seorang hamba, ia
menghasut dia menentang tuannya, dan
dengan setiap kesengsaraan itu
dirancangkan terhadapnya, jika mungkin dia
boleh dihukum mati.
22 Kerana kebencian bekerja dengan iri hati
juga terhadap mereka yang berjaya: selama
ia mendengar atau melihat kejayaan mereka,
ia sentiasa merana.
23 Kerana seperti cinta menghidupkan
orang mati, dan memanggil kembali mereka
yang telah dihukum mati, demikian juga
kebencian akan membunuh orang yang
hidup, dan mereka yang telah berdosa secara
hakiki ia tidak akan hidup.
24 Kerana roh kebencian bekerja bersama-
sama dengan Syaitan, melalui roh-roh yang
tergesa-gesa, dalam segala hal kepada
kematian manusia; tetapi roh kasih sayang
bekerja bersama-sama dengan hukum Tuhan
dalam kesabaran untuk keselamatan
manusia.
25 Oleh itu, kebencian adalah jahat, kerana
ia sentiasa berpasangan dengan dusta,
bercakap menentang kebenaran; dan ia
menjadikan perkara-perkara kecil menjadi
besar, dan menyebabkan terang itu menjadi
kegelapan, dan memanggil yang manis itu
pahit, dan mengajar fitnah, dan menyalakan
kemarahan, dan membangkitkan peperangan,
dan kekerasan dan segala ketamakan; ia
memenuhi hati dengan kejahatan dan racun
syaitan.
26 Hal-hal ini, oleh kerana itu, Aku berkata
kepadamu dari pengalaman, anak-anakku,
agar kamu boleh menghalau kebencian,
yang berasal dari iblis, dan berpegang pada
kasih Tuhan.
27 Kebenaran melenyapkan kebencian,
kerendahan hati melenyapkan iri hati.
28 Kerana dia yang adil dan rendah hati
malu untuk melakukan apa yang tidak adil,
tidak ditegur oleh orang lain, tetapi oleh
hatinya sendiri, kerana Tuhan melihat
kepada kecenderungannya.
29 Ia tidak mencela orang kudus, kerana
takut akan Tuhan mengalahkan kebencian.
30 Kerana takut dia akan menyinggung
perasaan Tuhan, dia tidak akan melakukan
kesalahan kepada sesiapa pun, walaupun
dalam fikiran.
31 Perkara-perkara ini akhirnya saya
pelajari, selepas saya bertaubat mengenai
Joseph.
32 Kerana pertaubatan sejati menurut jenis
yang saleh membinasakan kejahilan, dan
menghalau kegelapan, dan menerangi mata,
dan memberikan pengetahuan kepada jiwa,
dan menuntun fikiran kepada keselamatan.
33 Dan perkara-perkara yang ia tidak
pelajari daripada manusia, ia tahu melalui
pertaubatan.
34 Kerana Tuhan mendatangkan penyakit
hati kepadaku; dan sekiranya doa Yakub
bapa saya tidak menolong saya, ia hampir
tidak gagal tetapi roh saya telah pergi.
35 Kerana dengan perkara apa yang
dilanggar oleh seseorang itu juga dia
dihukum.
36 Oleh kerana, oleh itu, hatiku telah
ditetapkan tanpa belas kasihan terhadap
Joseph, dalam hatiku juga aku menderita
tanpa belas kasihan, dan dihakimi selama
sebelas bulan, untuk sekian lama
sebagaimana aku telah marah terhadap
Joseph.
BAB 2
Gad menasihati pendengarnya supaya tidak
membenci kebencian yang menunjukkan
bagaimana ia telah membawanya ke dalam
banyak masalah. Ayat 8-11 sangat diingati.
1 Dan sekarang, anak-anakku, aku
menasihati kamu, kasihilah masing-masing
saudaranya, dan buanglah kebencian dari
4. hatimu, kasihilah satu sama lain dalam
perbuatan, dan dalam perkataan, dan dalam
kecenderungan jiwa.
2 Kerana di hadapan ayahku aku berbicara
dengan damai kepada Joseph; dan apabila
saya telah keluar, roh kebencian
menggelapkan fikiran saya, dan
menggerakkan jiwa saya untuk
membunuhnya.
3 Kasihilah satu sama lain dari hati; dan jika
seseorang berdosa terhadapmu, berbicaralah
dengan damai kepadanya, dan dalam
jiwamu jangan menyimpan tipu daya; dan
jika dia bertaubat dan mengaku, ampunilah
dia.
4 Tetapi jika dia mengingkarinya, jangan
bergairah dengan dia, supaya tidak
menangkap racun daripadamu, dia
bersumpah dan kamu berdosa dua kali lipat.
5 Jangan biarkan orang lain mendengar
rahsia anda apabila terlibat dalam
perselisihan undang-undang, supaya jangan
dia membenci anda dan menjadi musuh
anda, dan melakukan dosa besar terhadap
anda; kerana sering kali dia bercakap
dengan kamu secara menipu atau
menyibukkan diri tentang kamu dengan niat
jahat.
6 Dan walaupun dia mengingkarinya dan
masih mempunyai rasa malu apabila ditegur,
berhentilah menegurnya.
7 Kerana jadilah yang menyangkal boleh
bertaubat agar tidak lagi menganiaya kamu;
ya, dia juga boleh memuliakan kamu, dan
takut dan berdamai dengan kamu.
8 Dan jika dia tidak tahu malu dan
berterusan melakukan kesalahannya,
ampunilah dia dengan segenap hati, dan
serahkan kepada Allah pembalasan.
9 Jika seseorang lebih makmur daripada
kamu, jangan susah hati, tetapi berdoalah
juga untuk dia, supaya dia beroleh
kemakmuran yang sempurna.
10 kerana demikianlah yang patut bagi
kamu.
11 Dan jika dia lebih ditinggikan, jangan iri
hati kepadanya, mengingati bahawa semua
manusia akan mati; dan memuji Tuhan,
yang memberikan perkara yang baik dan
bermanfaat kepada semua orang.
12 Carilah penghakiman Tuhan, dan
fikiranmu akan tenang dan tenteram.
13 Dan walaupun seseorang menjadi kaya
dengan cara yang jahat, sama seperti Esau,
saudara ayahku, jangan cemburu; tetapi
tunggulah kesudahan Tuhan.
14 Kerana jika dia mengambil daripada
seseorang kekayaan yang diperoleh dengan
cara jahat Dia mengampuni dia jika dia
bertaubat, tetapi yang tidak bertaubat
disimpan untuk hukuman kekal.
15 Kerana orang miskin, jika bebas dari iri
hati dia berkenan kepada Tuhan dalam
segala hal, diberkati melebihi semua orang,
kerana dia tidak bersusah payah orang yang
sia-sia.
16 Oleh itu, buanglah iri hati dari jiwamu,
dan kasihilah satu sama lain dengan
ketulusan hati.
17 Oleh itu, beritahukan juga perkara ini
kepada anak-anakmu, supaya mereka
menghormati Yehuda dan Lewi, kerana
daripada merekalah Tuhan akan
membangkitkan keselamatan bagi Israel.
18 Kerana aku tahu bahawa pada akhirnya
anak-anakmu akan meninggalkan Dia, dan
akan berjalan dalam o kejahatan, dan
kesengsaraan dan kebinasaan di hadapan
Tuhan.
19 Dan apabila dia berehat sebentar, dia
berkata lagi; Wahai anak-anakku, taatilah
ayahmu dan kuburkanlah aku dekat dengan
nenek moyangku.
20 Dan dia menarik kakinya, dan tertidur
dengan tenang.
21 Setelah lima tahun mereka membawa dia
ke Hebron dan membaringkan dia bersama
nenek moyangnya.
