And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. 2. BAB 1
Gad, anak kesembilan dari Yakub dan Zilpa.
Gembala dan pria kuat namun berjiwa
pembunuh. Ayat 25 adalah definisi penting
tentang kebencian.
1 Salinan wasiat Gad, hal-hal apa yang dia
katakan kepada putra-putranya, pada tahun
keseratus dua puluh lima hidupnya,
mengatakan kepada mereka:
2 Dengarlah, anak-anakku, aku anak
kesembilan yang lahir dari Yakub, dan aku
gagah berani dalam menggembalakan ternak.
3 Oleh karena itu aku menjaga kawanan
domba pada malam hari; dan setiap kali
singa, atau serigala, atau binatang buas apa
pun datang ke kandang, aku mengejarnya,
dan menyusulnya, aku menangkap kakinya
dengan tanganku dan melemparkannya
sejauh sepelemparan batu, lalu
membunuhnya.
4 Sekarang Yusuf, saudara laki-lakiku,
sedang menggembalakan kawanan domba
6Dan Yusuf memberitahukan ayah kami
bahwa anak-anak Zilpa dan Bilha sedang
menyembelih kawanan domba yang terbaik
dan memakannya di hadapan penghakiman
Ruben dan Yehuda.
7 Karena dia melihat bahwa aku telah
mengeluarkan seekor domba dari mulut
beruang, dan membunuh beruang itu; tetapi
kami telah menyembelih anak domba itu,
karena sedih karena ia tidak dapat hidup,
dan karena kami telah memakannya.
8 Mengenai hal ini aku marah besar
terhadap Yusuf sampai hari dia dijual.
9 Dan roh kebencian ada dalam diriku, dan
aku tidak ingin mendengar tentang Yusuf
dengan telinga, atau melihat dia dengan
mata, karena dia menegur kami secara
langsung dengan mengatakan bahwa kami
makan dari kawanan domba tanpa Yehuda.
10Apa pun yang dikatakannya kepada ayah
kami, ia percaya padanya.
11 Sekarang kuakui, ginku, anak-anakku,
bahwa sering kali aku ingin membunuhnya,
karena aku membencinya dari hatiku.
12 Terlebih lagi, aku semakin membencinya
karena mimpi-mimpinya; dan aku ingin
menjilatnya keluar dari negeri orang hidup,
bagaikan seekor lembu menjilat rumput di
padang.
13 Dan Yehuda menjual dia secara diam-
diam kepada orang Ismael.
14Demikianlah Allah nenek moyang kita
melepaskan dia dari tangan kita, agar kita
tidak melakukan pelanggaran hukum yang
besar di Israel.
15 Dan sekarang, anak-anakku,
dengarkanlah firman kebenaran untuk
melakukan kebenaran, dan seluruh hukum
Yang Maha Tinggi, dan jangan tersesat
melalui roh kebencian, karena semua
perbuatan manusia jahat.
16 Apa pun yang dilakukan seseorang yang
dibencinya, berarti dia keji; dan meskipun
seseorang mengerjakan hukum Tuhan, dia
tidak memujinya; Sekalipun seseorang takut
akan Tuhan dan menyenangi kebenaran, ia
tidak mengasihinya.
17 Dia mencela kebenaran, dia iri pada
orang kaya, dia menyambut fitnah, dia
menyukai kesombongan, karena kebencian
membutakan jiwanya; saat aku juga
memandang Yusuf.
18 Oleh karena itu, waspadalah, anak-
anakku, terhadap kebencian, karena
kebencian itu menimbulkan pelanggaran
hukum bahkan terhadap Tuhan sendiri.
19 Sebab ia tidak mau mendengarkan
firman perintah-Nya mengenai kasih
terhadap sesamanya, dan ia berdosa
terhadap Allah.
20 Sebab jika ada seorang saudara yang
tersandung, maka ia akan segera diberitakan
kepada semua orang, dan sangat mendesak
agar ia diadili, dihukum, dan dihukum mati.
3. 21 Dan jika yang melakukan hal itu adalah
seorang hamba, maka hal itu akan
menghasut dia melawan tuannya, dan
dengan segala penderitaan yang
direncanakan terhadap dia, jika mungkin dia
dapat dihukum mati.
22 Sebab kebencian juga menimbulkan rasa
iri hati terhadap mereka yang makmur;
selama kebencian mendengar atau melihat
keberhasilan mereka, maka kebencian selalu
merana.
23 Sebab sama seperti kasih akan
menghidupkan kembali orang yang sudah
mati, dan akan memanggil kembali mereka
yang akan dihukum mati, demikian pula
kebencian akan membunuh yang hidup, dan
mereka yang telah melakukan dosa ringan
tidak akan menderita untuk hidup.
24 Karena roh kebencian bekerja sama
dengan Setan, melalui ketergesaan roh,
dalam segala hal sampai pada kematian
manusia; tetapi roh kasih bekerja sama
dengan hukum Allah dalam
kepanjangsabaran demi keselamatan
manusia.
25 Oleh karena itu, kebencian adalah
kejahatan, karena kebencian selalu disertai
dengan kebohongan, perkataan yang
menentang kebenaran; dan menjadikan
perkara-perkara kecil menjadi besar, dan
menjadikan terang menjadi kegelapan, dan
menjadikan yang manis menjadi pahit, dan
mengajarkan fitnah, dan mengobarkan
kemurkaan, dan mengobarkan peperangan,
kekerasan, dan segala keserakahan; itu
mengisi hati dengan kejahatan dan racun
iblis.
26 Oleh karena itu, aku mengatakan
kepadamu berdasarkan pengalaman, anak-
anakku, agar kamu dapat mengusir
kebencian, yang berasal dari iblis, dan
bersatu pada kasih Allah.
27Keadilan melenyapkan kebencian,
kerendahan hati melenyapkan iri hati.
28 Sebab orang yang adil dan rendah hati
merasa malu melakukan ketidakadilan, dan
bukan orang lain yang menegurnya,
melainkan hatinya sendiri, karena TUHAN
memperhatikan kecenderungannya.
29 Ia tidak berbicara menentang orang suci,
sebab rasa takut akan Allah mengalahkan
kebencian.
30 Karena takut kalau-kalau dia
menyinggung perasaan Tuhan, dia tidak
akan berbuat salah terhadap siapa pun,
bahkan dalam pikirannya.
31 Hal-hal ini akhirnya kuketahui, setelah
aku bertobat mengenai Yusuf.
32 Sebab pertobatan yang sejati menurut
cara yang saleh membinasakan
ketidaktahuan, dan mengusir kegelapan, dan
menerangi mata, dan memberi pengetahuan
kepada jiwa, dan menuntun pikiran kepada
keselamatan.
33 Dan hal-hal yang tidak dipelajarinya dari
manusia, diketahuinya melalui pertobatan.
34 Sebab Allah mendatangkan penyakit hati
kepadaku; dan jika doa Yakub ayahku tidak
menolongku, maka doa itu tidak akan gagal
tetapi semangatku telah pergi.
35 Karena pelanggaran yang dilakukan
seseorang juga menimbulkan hukuman .
36Oleh karena itu, karena hatiku telah
tertuju tanpa belas kasihan terhadap Yusuf,
maka dalam hatiku pula aku menderita
tanpa ampun, dan diadili selama sebelas
bulan, sama lamanya dengan waktu aku
marah terhadap Yusuf.
BAB 2
Gad menasihati para pendengarnya agar
tidak membenci kebencian yang
menunjukkan betapa kebencian telah
membawanya ke dalam banyak masalah.
Ayat 8-11 sangat berkesan.
1 Dan sekarang, anak-anakku, aku
menasihati kamu, kasihilah kamu masing-
masing saudaramu, dan buanglah kebencian
dari hatimu, kasihilah satu sama lain dalam
perbuatan, perkataan, dan kecenderungan
jiwa.
4. 2 Karena di hadapan ayahku aku berbicara
dengan damai kepada Yusuf; dan ketika aku
sudah keluar, roh kebencian menggelapkan
pikiranku, dan menggerakkan jiwaku untuk
membunuhnya.
3 Kasihilah satu sama lain dari hati; dan jika
seseorang berbuat dosa terhadapmu,
bicaralah dengan damai kepadanya, dan
janganlah ada tipu muslihat dalam jiwamu;
dan jika dia bertobat dan mengaku,
ampunilah dia.
4 Tetapi jika dia mengingkarinya, janganlah
kamu terbawa nafsu dengannya, karena jika
dia terkena racun darimu, dia akan
bersumpah serapah sehingga kamu berdosa
dua kali lipat.
5 Janganlah ada orang lain yang mendengar
rahasiamu ketika terlibat dalam perselisihan
hukum, supaya dia tidak membencimu dan
menjadi musuhmu, serta melakukan dosa
besar terhadapmu; karena sering kali dia
menyapamu dengan penuh tipu muslihat
atau menyibukkan diri denganmu dengan
niat jahat.
6 Meskipun dia menyangkalnya namun
merasa malu ketika ditegur, janganlah
menegurnya.
melakukan kesalahannya, ampunilah dia
dengan sepenuh hati, dan serahkan
pembalasan kepada Allah.
9 Jika seseorang lebih sejahtera dari pada
kamu, janganlah kamu merasa kesal, tetapi
berdoalah juga untuknya, agar dia
memperoleh kesejahteraan yang sempurna.
10 karena itu berguna bagimu.
11 Dan jika dia lebih ditinggikan, jangan iri
padanya, mengingat bahwa semua makhluk
akan mati; dan memanjatkan puji-pujian
kepada Allah yang memberikan segala
sesuatu yang baik dan bermanfaat kepada
semua manusia.
12 Carilah penghakiman Tuhan, maka
pikiranmu akan tenteram dan tenteram.
13 Dan walaupun seseorang menjadi kaya
dengan cara yang jahat, sama seperti Esau,
saudara laki-laki ayahku, janganlah iri hati;
tapi tunggu sampai akhir Tuhan.
berkata lagi; Anak-anakku, taatilah ayahmu,
dan kuburkan aku di dekat ayahku.
20 Lalu dia bangkit dan tertidur dengan
tenang.
21 Lima tahun kemudian mereka
membawanya ke Hebron dan
membaringkannya bersama nenek
moyangnya.
