Assure Day 4
I. Analyze the Learners: There are twenty students in my fourth grade class. In this class
there are seven African Americans, and Three Chinese Americans. The number of
girls I have in class is eight and I have twelve boys. As well they are between the ages
of eight and ten. These students are not very good test takers, so I will need to
incorporate a wide variety of teaching methods to accommodate their learning
individual learning styles.
II. State Objectives: My students will explain and describe the social issues that are
involved with the Olympic games and how they effect society by the use of Pinterest,
Storytelling/YouTubing, and Podcasts with 90% accuracy by the end of the day.
III. Selecting Methods, Material, and Media: With the different learning styles of my
students I will need to use these methods, media, and materials:
• Smart Board: To help show the YouTube video at the beginning of class.
• Pinterest: They will look at one of my boards that I have pinned some striking images
of social issues being partaken at the Olympics.
• Storytelling: Show them a YouTube video in which I created to show the story of social
issues at the Olympic Games.
• Podcasting: To help show the magnitude of these social instances to the students, so
they better understand and engage into the lesson.
IV. Utilizing Media and Materials: Before the class starts, I will make sure all the
computers are working properly and that they can access Pinterest on the schools
computers ( some schools wont allow Pinterest). I will then make sure my YouTube
video works properly with no glitches before showing. Then I will make sure the two
podcasts I will have the students listen to work properly. In the classroom, the desks
2. will be arranged in group arrangement to make it easier to communicate to one
another.
V. Require Learner Participation: To begin the lesson and to set a good picture of the
lesson for the day is to show the YouTube video I created to help show the story of
social issues in the Olympics. This will set the tone for the day, as I ask what they
thought of the video and get their feedback that will also serve as a small
assessment. After the YouTube video, I will show my Pinterest Board and the Pins I
did on famous social images that occurred during the Olympics, again using the
SmartBoard to show this as it helps the class keep engagement. This will also help
engage the students along with allowing them to write a paragraph after viewing
these images, about how they feel about these images and how the affected the
Olympics and society. The next tool to be used in the lesson is podcasts. Podcasts
will be used to help show the importance that these issues had with society and the
Olympics. The class will then post of the Facebook page will post a fifteen sentence
response to today’s lesson.
VI. Evaluate and Revise: To help adapt to the students learning style and to assess
learner comprehension I will:
• Walk around the class and ask questions pertaining to social injustice and different
problems that were addressed in class.
• Facebook Post will be the majority assessment in the lesson
• Require student participation during the lesson by asking questions, and allowing
students to direct the Smart Board.
