Day 4
A: Analyze the Learners
This is a class of twenty high school seniors. Twelve of them are Caucasian, and eight of them
are African American. None of them have learning or physical disabilities. Three of them have
ADHD.
S: State Objectives
This is the second day of a two part study of Othello. Today, they will be getting into groups and
performing some key scenes from Othello. They will also be doing a Webquest about Othello on
Word. After they have completed both of these things, I want them each to blog about a theme in
Othello that they found interesting. After this is completed, I would like for students to have an
80% understanding of Othello.
S: Select the 3 M’s (Method, Media, Materials)
Most of this work will be done amongst the students, so I will just make sure they have the
materials they need. The media will be the Webquest and blog. We will need copies of the text
and a computer.
U: Utilize Media and Materials
2. The students will be receiving the benefit of the media and materials. They will read throughout
the sources to complete the Webquest, as well as express their opinions within the blogs. I would
prepare the materials and ideas, then teach it. The students listen, participate, and learn.
R: Require Learner Participation
The students will participate in the performances, the Webquest, and the blogs.
E: Evaluate and Revise
My evaluation for this lesson will be based on the completion of the Webquest- that they
followed instructions and answered the questions to the best of their ability, as well as their
completion of their blogs.
