The document outlines an ASSURE method lesson plan for an eighth grade class to learn about bones. The teacher will use a variety of methods including blogs, PowerPoint presentations, and posters to engage different learning styles. Students will create their own blog about broken bones and comment on peers' posts. They will also be placed into groups to create an informative poster about bones using PowerPoint. The teacher will provide examples, ensure all materials and technology are ready, and require participation from students during activities. Progress will be evaluated through student participation and inclusion of bone information in the posters.

ASSURE Method- Day 4
A- Analyze learners
S- State objectives
S- Select methods, media, materials
U- Utilize media and materials
R- Require learner participation
E- Evaluate and revise
A- I have twenty students in my eighth grade class. Of those students ten are girls, and ten
are boys. Because of the rural location of the school, every student is Caucasian. All of the
students are approximately twelve to thirteen years old. One girl has a broken leg that
requires extra time between classes and some small modifications to the classroom layout.
Because of each student’s differences, I will need to use a variety of teaching techniques so
that every child has the opportunity to learn.
S- My students will discover and recognize by listing and describing the bones of the body in
which they will learn through a blog and poster in one day with 85% accuracy.
S- To contribute to all learning styles I will use different media and material items so that
everyone can learn. Since the ultimate goal is for every student to learn, in order to
accomplish this there will be many methods and materials that will be involved.
2. Blog- The blog example will be provided and students will be asked to create their own. The
blog will be about personal experiences with broken bones and comment on how a peer
could have helped to prevent the accident. The students may do this on their smartphones if
available.
PowerPoint- Students will be shown a teacher example of how to create a poster on
PowerPoint. Students will then be assembled into groups of 5 and create and design one
together. It can be informative, diagram, or fiction style poster, and it has to be about bones.
Printer- It will be printed on regular paper in the computer lab.
U- Throughout the week I will ensure all computers and media are working properly and all
materials are available prior to class starting. I will make sure the Internet works before the
students arrive for the day. I will also already have the reviewed the blog example to ensure
that it is appropriate for everyone. I will ensure that I have access to paper and printer
materials. I will also have the desks arranged in pods of five for the group activity.
R- Students will be engaged when creating the blog and reading their peers. This will require
full participation and engagement because of the comment-posting requirement. Because the
poster will be designed in groups, each member will have a job.
E- Throughout the course of the unit I will modify accordingly if the students are having
trouble getting something. I will constantly be checking the students to ensure active
participation during the blogging process. The poster should include information about bones
so this will act as the assessment.
