2. The Bauer Media Group is a large German publishing company which operates in 15 countries worldwide. Worldwide circulation of Bauer Media Group’s magazine titles amounts to 38 million magazines a week. This publisher immediately caught my attention. The publisher works with some of the magazines which are exceedingly widely established such as Q and Kerrang! which are known to be very successful magazines world wide, Bauer works with mostly niche genres however do work with some mainstream genres and so gain plenty of recognition. They also do not really distribute anything for my kind of genre, which means that they could try to distribute something different from what they usually distribute and repeat their successful experience onto my magazine. And so I think my magazine will be very well suited for Bauer as they would know exactly how to deal with the conventions and audience, meaning a successful distribution of Slant magazine to be made. Bauer Media group has a 50% stake in the British television company Box Television, the other half owned by channel 4. Box television acts as the content subsidiary that produces several popular music channels such as 4 music, Kiss TV, Smash Hits TV and many others. They also operate in Bauer radio who own several well known station that include; TFM Radio, Metro Radio, Radio Aireand Kerrang! this shows that Bauer is even more experienced and knows very well what they are doing as they own very well known and successful music channels and radio stations as well as magazines.
