1. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
2. I have learnt about many different technologies from the process of constructing my product, I have learnt about new technologies I have never used before, developed my skills on some technologies which I was slightly familiar with before and there were some which I was already familiar with and so found it easy to use. Technologies I was already familiar with were; Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, USB stick and internet web search (Google Images) Technologies I developed skills on; Adobe Photoshop tools and Microsoft Excel. Technologies that were new to me; Blogger, SlideBoom, SlideShare, Cannons professional camera, Edirol and Adobe Audition.
4. Microsoft PowerPoint was very useful to me as it helped me in creating my slideshows and presentations and in organising my work neatly and easily and so provided great use to me for my project . It made it a lot easier for me as opposed to uploading everything straight onto the blog and it would have also not been as neat and clear if I did so.
5. Microsoft Word was the programme I used the most from every other programme that required typing for example the magazine analysis, magazines questionnaire, typing up the interview etc. I also used the spell-check tool on Microsoft word, using this ensured I had no spelling errors as it would tell me if I did so that I was able to correct any spelling errors I had made in the first place before uploading any work onto my blog, this stopped me from having to worry about any spelling errors.
6. The USB stick was the most important throughout conducting my work as it helped me in storing all my work and ensuring it was all safe on the USB stick for use later on and it also helped me transfer my work from one computer to another so that I could work on it both at school and at home. If I did not have the USB stick I could have emailed my work to my self but I could not have emailed all of it as Photoshop files are too big to be emailed and so without the USB Stick I would not have been able to do much and it would have taken a lot longer.
8. Microsoft Excel – I used this programme to make the graphs for my questionnaire, I had used this programme before for making graphs but I was not very familiar with it and did not know how to make the graphs at first as I had forgotten how to use it. After making the first graph I became familiar with it and found out that I could make different graphs and pie charts and change the colours or them. So i developed a few skills from using this programme
9. Adobe Photoshop was another programme I was already familiar with although I did not have so many skills in it and through constructing my product I developed many skills as Photoshop was a programme I used to create my Front cover, Contents page and Main article and had to use many different tools. One skill I learnt was using the ruler tool, I did not know about that tool before and it helped me organise the layout and to construct my magazine in making it neat accurate and tidy. It helped me ensure that all text and images were lined up making it look professional.
10. The Hue/Saturation tool was another tool I did not know about and learnt about it whilst making my magazine. This tool allows me to change the colours of any image or a certain part of a image. I used this tool to change the colour of my artists hoody as the original colour was red but red did not seem to go very well with my magazine and so I decided to change the colour to blue, I thought that it would not look as realistic and professional if I changed the colour but it in fact looked very realistic and you cannot tell that I have changed the colour. First I used the magnetic lasso tool to select the hoody and then I held down ctrl and pressed u which brought up the Hue/Saturation box and I then changed both the hue and saturation to get the colour I wanted.
11. I also became familiar with the dodge tool which I used to make her eyes seem lighter than they originally are, First I selected the Dodge tool and selected the right size for the eye and clocked on the eye until it became as light as I wanted it to be. The spot heeling tool was another tool I did not know about before, this tool is used to remove any spots from skin with a simple click where the spot is. I used this tool in order to make my artists skin look clear This is how the eyes looked after using the dodge tool. This was a very useful tool which I also used for parts of her hair.
13. Blogger is used to create blogs which I have never done so before, this was the first time I create a blog and so it was all new to me. This website made my work a lot easier and problem free when uploading my work onto my blog. Another useful thing about uploading your work onto a blog is that you can easily edit it anytime you want whether you want to improve it or correct an error you can do so just with a touch of a button which meant I did not have to worry about losing my work or making a mistake. It was also very easy to publish posts and did not take up any time.
14. The Edirol was another technology I was unfamiliar with and had never used before. I used this device to record audience feedback about my plan for my product and again for my finished product. I encountered a few problems when using the Edirol for example the batteries kept running out and I would have to start all over again, I had to repeat it three times until it finally worked and I could upload it onto my blog.
15. Adobe Audition – I used this programme to edit my audio files I had recorded using the Edirol to erase any errors for example if the interviewee made a mistake when giving me feedback I used this programme to erase it. This programme was completely new to me and I had never heard of it before so I found it a little difficult as first and struggled a little with it in the beginning, but then I got used to it after editing a few files and became familiar with it.
16. Slideshare - This site was use to transform a PowerPoint into a presentation, I needed to do this to be able to upload the presentation onto my blog. This website helped me to do so easily and made my work look professional. Without this website I would have not been able to upload my PowerPoint work onto my blog and I would have struggled with it so this website was very useful in helping me present my work.
17. Canons Professional Camera I used this device to take pictures of my models for my magazine. This camera allowed me to take high quality pictures that looked professional and realistic, I learnt many little things from using this camera as I have never used a professional camera before but my mobile phone camera. I learnt how to zoom in and out and how to change the concentration of an image as well as how to change the lighting settings and many other little stuff that all together make an image look professional and of high standards.
