Bauer Media Group is a European-based media company, headquartered in Hamburg, Germany,
that manages a portfolio of more than 600 magazines, over 400 digital products and 50 radio
and TV stations around the world.
Bauer media is a division of the Bauer media group - a sister company of H Bauer publishing
which publishes the UK’s biggest TV listings, take a break and Bella.
Bauer media joined the Bauer media group in 2008 following acquisition of Emap plc’s consumer

3. WHAT DO THEY OWN?
Bauer Media consists of numerous companies collect around two main divisions: Magazines, and
Radio. This includes any different types of media or entertainment, in a whole range of different
genres with different primary audiences, including fashion, music and gossip.
- Magazines: They own music magazines include Kerrang!, Mojo and Q. They own specialised
magazines like Ride, Trail and You horse. The other magazines include Angling Times, Heat, Grazia,
Empire, Car and FHM.
- Radio stations: Kerrang!, Absolute Radio, Planet Rock, magic, Jazz FM and Kiss are all owned by
Bauer media.
4. Notable magazine: GRAZIA
Grazia (pronounced [ˈɡrattsja]; Italian for Grace) is a
weekly women's magazine that originated in Italy
The Italian edition of Grazia was first published
Mondadori in November 1938. The start of Grazia was a
return in Italy to traditionalist values such as cooking
and child-rearing

February 2005 and is owned in the UK under licence by

5. Notable magazine: MOJO
Mojo is a popular music magazine published initially by Emap, and since January
2008 by Bauer, monthly in the United Kingdom. Following the success of the
magazine Q, publishers Emap were looking for a title that would cater for the
burgeoning interest in classic rock music
While some criticise it for its frequent coverage of classic rock acts such as the
Beatles and Bob Dylan, it has nevertheless featured many newer and "left-field" acts.
It was the first mainstream magazine in the UK to focus on the White Stripes,
More recently, the magazine has taken to publishing many "Top 100" lists.
The company behind the magazine, Bauer, also produced a digital radio station
called Mojo Radio, and was transmitted on the digital television networks in the UK.
It was announced on 5 November 2008 that Mojo Radio would cease broadcasting
on 30 November 2008, in order to save Bauer the financial outlay

7. Reaction to the downturn in magazine sales
Total sales for all audited consumer magazines fell to 169 million in the second half of 2017, a decline of
nearly 12 million units from the same period in 2016
Bauer Media has closed several of its women’s media print titles, including Dolly and Cleo magazine.
