2. Which period of the year you received toys?
Question #1
Grandfather and grandmother:
On January 6, the day of the Epiphany, because it recalled the arrival
of the Magi to Jesus. Santa does not exist. The games were sold on
the stalls. Parents accompanied us the previous days to pass the stalls
and investigating on our desires.
3. What types of toys you received?

Grandfather:
Grandfathers' toys were toy guns, toy trains.
Grandmother:
The toys we received were mostly dolls and books.
4. Have you ever invented games? If yes, with
which materials?

Grandfather:
We used to fretwork the wood and build objects that
were used to play outdoors. For example with the
boxcutter and branches we built slingshots with
which we went hunting. Also we made whistles and
flutes with canes and we had a competition to see
which was the most in tune.
Grandmother:
We used cloth, thread, wool etc. We sewed clothes
for dolls and we made objects that imitated the
typical crafts of women.
5. How much time could you dedicate to the
game?

Grandfather:
All the time that remained after homework. The
school ended at 12.30, so most of the afternoon.
Grandmother:
The time devoted to the game was of a few hours in
the afternoon, after having done our homework and
helped our mother in the house.
6. What were the free games you used to play?
And where do you realize them?

Grandmother and grandfather:
When we were young all children used to play
outdoors, in the street, at the gardens, freely and
without danger. Group games most recurring Were:
hide and seek, rope, ball, hopscotch, marbles,
running on scooters and flying kites.
7. Did you teach any game to your
grandchildren?

Grandmother and grandfather:
Shanghai, tiddlywinks, the game of the goose, card
games, dominoes, checkers.
8. What are the games that you enjoy to play
together with your grandchildren?

Grandfather:
Briscola, scopa, checkers.
Sometimes we made object with wood or other
materials.
Grandmother:
Cooking, sewing cloths for the dolls, adventure and
treasure hunt.
