2. When Did You begin to Gather
Audience Feedback?
•
We started to gather data at the start of our course. After we had
researched different type of music videos and their conventions we
struggled to decide what genre of song we wanted to pick. We
compiled a series of question into a google form and sent the form to
our peers. This questionnaire proved very useful to us as we were
able to narrow down our genre choice to the indie rock genre.
3. What Did You Learn From Your
Research?
Our research gave our group the information we needed to push our
final music video into the direction it needed to go to be successful. If
it wasn’t for the audience feedback we wouldn’t of known how
important the aspect of escapism for people watching music videos.
This aspect of the uses and gratifications theory, that allows people to
find an escape from their lives through the visuals of our music
videos, was a vital aspect that we needed to include in our final music
video. As a result of this research we included shots of our main actor
floating in clouds to create escapism.

4. How was the Construct of the Music
Video Influenced by Audience Feedback
•
From our questionnaire we were able to gather peoples personal information.
This information included their age, gender and social demographic. From
this information we were able to group people by age, gender and social
demographic and then from this information we were able to find our what
individual group preferred in terms of visuals and audience theory. This gave
us an opportunity to appeal to younger viewers, who typically listen to the
indie genre of music.
5. How Did You Receive Audience
Feedback?
We received audience feedback across many different platforms. This allowed
us to get a variety of feedback from different areas of our project from many
different target audience areas.
One way we received audience feedback is through google forms. By producing
google forms we were able to tailor our own question to our audience and
make sure that we were getting the correct type of feedback that we desired.
From google forms we were able to get audience feedback during the planning
and research stage.
During the production stage, creating google forms to generate feedback
proved to be a trickier task. As a result of this we found that feedback in the
comments section of websites such as YouTube that allowed our audience to
watch our video and comment on things that they liked and disliked.
6. Interactive Feedback
During the production process we did not limit ourselves to online platforms
to generated audience feedback. We also held screening of our music videos
throughout the process of production. This gave us a chance to gather
feedback from live audiences. From these sessions we were able to really see
how an audience reacted to our music video first hand .
