Question 3
1. QUESTION 3 – WHAT DID
YOU LEARN FROM
AUDIENCE FEEDBACK.
SYMON AGUILAR
2. In the beginning of the process of the music video we
had chosen male teenagers as our target audience.
This is because Maroon 5 is a band, young males
generally listen to bands. But after a few research we
had found out that most of the audience of Maroon 5
are Females, I found this out through YouTube as most
of the people were commenting and there was also a
large amounts of young females tweeting the band
and the artist itself Adam Levine.
3. Social Networking sites have been a major factor to research on the
audience. These includes websites such as twitter, Facebook and
YouTube. Social networking sites has allowed us to gain a wider and
larger feedback on our video. After posting our Music Video on
YouTube we had managed to get 67 views and 4 likes, this has allowed
me to know that some people admire our music video. The problem
with this is that it does not give us a view on the category of people
that watch our music video.
4. Through the course of my work I have managed to collect a wide
variety of audience feedback. These are people that are my audience
and those who are not my audience. For my Music Video of ‘Lucky
Strike’ I had the genre of Pop, within this we had young teenage
females as our target audience, due to the fact that we had an
attractive male who would be an eye candy to our audience.
5. During our audience feedback I carried out a focus groups on their
opinion of the rough cut of our music video. My focus group was very
honest in their answers as they have provided information about the
weaknesses of the video and told us the strengths of the video and also
provide advice on how we can improve our music video. The way that
we had organised our focused groups is by allowing them to watch the
video that we had filmed before and we would ask a couple of
questions and provide feedback.
6. THESE WERE SOME OF THE QUESTIONS WE
ASKED OUR TARGET AUDIENCE.
•What is your initial first impression of the music
video?
•Did you like or have any interest in the video?
•Do you have an understanding of the music
video?
•The genre of the music video was pop. Do you
think we represented that well and if not what
genre do you think this music video would go
under?
•What do you think we did well and what were
our weaknesses?
7. With the questions we wanted first find out if we were carrying the
music video in the right direction, this is by adding themes and for the
music video to be recognised as a pop genre music video and for the
narrative to be understood by the audience. From the questionnaires I
had found out that some of our audience had a hard time
understanding the music video, this meant that our music video did not
have a strong narrative which we had to go back and work on.
8. We provided our audience feedback by filming, whilst watching the
videos we would record their reaction and this also allowed the people
to see our target audiences appearance. But we also took feedback
from those who were not our target market as this could allow a wider
audience for the music video. We have present our product feedback
in many ways this is through making a video clip and also from listening
to their ideas first hand without the pressure of the camera and
applying that advice to paper.

15. Maroon 5 themselves had a mass audience this meant that turning to
social media sites would be the most appropriate thing to do as it was a
platform which we could reach at the widest audience. Web2.0 was a
very big aspect to this such as our use of the blogs as this was a
platform which people could view our creation and could freely
comment on the process. When choosing the song we had to consider
who our target audience is going to be as the chosen genre itself has its
own specific target audience so we ended up falling to the category of
young female audiences.
16. I have learnt a lot from Audience Feedback it has allowed my product
to develop over time and allowed me to see the errors that I am
making, so I can make further changes to them. One aspect that the
audience did not give us advice on, is the way that I could allow my
other people to see my product.
17. There are many ways that we could present our audiences our final
product, a popular way is that we could present it through social
networking as if the audiences themselves like it they can be able to
spread the product to more of their friends with a simple click. This
could also mean that it allows the makers to know how many times
that their product has been shared. Also YouTube is a great way to
release a product out to the public, this includes analytics showing who
are watching the videos, and shows how many views there is on the
video it also get the makers a good knowledge that if their product is
liked by people shown by the number of likes and the comments on
the video as this is what real media texts do.
