2. Types of audience feedback
After the production of our music video we conducted
some target market research in order to generate
feedback on our media product and find out what we
done well and which aspects could have used some
improvement.
The first way in which we collected target audience
feedback was through creating a survey on the
platform 'Survey Monkey'. The use of different types
of questions with different ways to answer these
questions allowed us to record feedback with no need
for physical interaction with the target audience.
We also used target audience interviews in order to
record feedback in greater detail.
3. Survey Analysis
Q1. Would you buy any of the products
seen in the music video?
We asked this question in order to see if
the media product had fulfilled its
purpose in promoting the artist and song,
and merchandise.
The responses to this question were
majority positive with 80% answering yes
which suggests that the music video has
done its job and also enhance the image
of the artist Jidenna.
4. Survey Analysis
Q2. Do you believe the clothing worn was
appropriate?
We asked this question in order to
understand whether we conveyed the
image of Jidenna as a ‘Classic man’
appropriately in the music video.
The responses to this question were also
majority positive with 90% answering yes
which suggests that the audience
understands the imge of Jidenna as an
artist and therefore the type of costumes
to expect in future music video’s and
ancillary texts.
5. Survey Analysis
Q3. What did you interpret from the Music
Video in terms of the Narrative?
Q8. Is the link between the image of the
artist and concept of the music video clear.
We asked these questions in order to
understand whether our audience
understood the storyline of the video. This
was one of the most important questions in
terms of our ability as a group to correctly
get our point across. Furthermore if the
audience did not understand the
narrative/concept they will not understand
Jidenna as an artist which would mean that
producing this video was pointless.
From reading the responses to these
questions I can conclude that the audience
seemed to understand the narrative and
concept and therefore the ‘Classic’
6. Survey Analysis
Q4. Do you believe that the locations
used in the music video were
appropriate?
This question was an extension of our
research into the image of Jidenna. The
aim of asking this question was to
understand the type of locations that the
target audience will now associate
Jidenna with.
From the responses to this question it
can be said that the audience felt that the
locations used were consistent with the
concept of the video and image of
Jidenna as the majority felt the locations
were appropriate.
7. Survey Analysis
Q5. Which Special effects did you like
from our music video?
This question was asked in order to
identify which aspect of our music video
was the best.
Our audience felt that the slowing of our
choreographed dance clip in the video
was the best part. This is useful to us as
it offers us feedback on the type of
characteristics we can include in future
video’s.
8. Survey Analysis
Q6. Would you consider buying the
album?
This question was asked in order to
understand whether our media product
has done its job as a promotional item.
The majority of our audience answered
yes which suggests that the video was of
good enough quality to promote the song,
artist and album.
9. Survey Analysis
Q7. How likely are you to recommend
this song to a friend or colleague?
We asked this question to assess the
overall quality of our video. By asking
how likely people are to recommend the
song after watching the video we can
forecast the popularity of the song, album
and future popularity of the artist himself.
10. Target Audience Interviews
We used target audience interviews in order to
record feedback in detail.
From the interviews we conducted we can
conclude that the target audience enjoyed the
song itself and concept of the video. The
concept of it all being a dream particularly
appealed to the target audience.
However they also expressed negative
opinions about camera quality and a lack of
female representation in the video.
