The document discusses feedback received from peers on a poster and radio project. Peers liked that the poster felt authentic to the 1940s era but suggested improving spacing and text color. For the radio project, peers enjoyed the content and production quality but noted a brief music glitch and suggested making the full show available and adding more facts. The creator agrees with the feedback and plans to make suggested improvements.
3. I found the research element very useful, the first thing I looked at were
the existing products which allowed me to investigate the features used in
other audio projects such as the Pumpkin FM radio show and the The UK
1940s radio station. I discovered the different music, sound effects
and performances that are used depending on the type of audio
techniques that can be used, this meant that I could see what to include in
my own product . I didn’t include unnecessary features that I felt
wouldn’t match. I thought about what made the audience listen to shows
such as these. I felt that my strength in the research section was doing
the existing products research and this helped my project by me knowing
what kind of performance, music or sound effects would make an audio
project sound effective too. The areas that I found that were not helpful
were creating my audience survey as I found that people can be extremely
unreliable in answering it as well as it taking a long time for response to be
made. This made it challenging for me to get broad market research. I felt
that I achieved what I needed to, with most of my research
4. Initially I created a poster style sheet because it was necessary
to explore colours, fonts and image styles similar to those I
wanted to produce.
Thereafter, I created the layout of my final poster which was a
mock up of my potential design using the colours and fonts
established in my style sheet and sourced images. The areas I
felt were my strengths in the planning were creating the style
sheet and using a specific design template to help me. This
enabled me to have a clear idea of what I wanted my poster to
look like but also supported me with the specific design tools
which I find challenging due to my disability and lack of
dexterity using a mouse. My weaknesses were based around
my time management, not necessarily the poster design, I also
learned that I need to use my time better for reviewing my
work. This would have allowed me to look at the product at a
deeper level to make other changes if necessary.
5. To plan my radio show I firstly created a script draft, I wrote the initially I
wrote in PowerPoint, but I realised that this did not work effectively as it did
not look like a script and support me with my rehearsal. I then recreated the
script in a word document which enabled me to write it out correctly as a
‘scrip draft’ .
I then copied and pasted it into the power point draft script slide and
highlighted it with a key using different colours, for example I wrote
the Narrator parts in red, the the music in orange, and finally the sound
effects in green, afterwards I wrote a final script of my radio show changing
some of my lines, and adding when the music would blend in afterwards .
I made a list of all the sound effects I would need for my audio recording,
then I made a list of the actors and locations I would need, next I made a list
of the music I had chosen, finally I compiled a list of all the resources that I
would need. I found that my strengths in planning was writing up my draft
and final scripts and this helped my product because I knew exactly what to
say and where the cues for the sound effects and music were. I found that my
weakness were considering my resources list as there I didn’t take time to
bullet point and list the things that I needed at specific times within the
production. This would have helped me work quicker and more efficiently
during the recording process.
6. I think I managed my time adequately right up until production. Although I didn’t hand work in, I
had completed it. The reason I did this was because I felt it would be better and more efficient
if the entire project was handed in together. However when it came to production I ran into a
few problems. These problems were mostly to do with my audio recordings and my own time
management. This was because many of the audio recordings had background noise and I also
messed up some of the lines of my script on my initial recording sessions, so I had to record
them multiple times. When I am under pressure, I tend to work the best and the most
efficiently. Often, I think the quality of my work is also far better when there is not not a lot of
time to do it, as it means there is no room for error leading to me being more focused and
concentrated on the task at hand. The amount of time we had to conclude each section of the
FMP was very comfortable and there was hardly ever any point where I thought ‘Oh dear I am
not going to be able to finish on time'. Our tutor gave us deadlines for every segment of the
FMP (Planning, research, proposal etc.) this greatly helped as it meant we had to get it done
and move on to the next thing, instead of doing research for 6 weeks and then realizing ‘I still
have to do all the rest of the project.’. As we had significantly more time for this project, as we
did for the other rotations taken earlier in the year. I was very keen to work hard and put as
much commitment into each aspect of the project as I could. Because of the large amount of
time we had to conclude this project (in comparison to the other rotations) the quality of the
body of work I have produced has been far higher than anything I have made previously.
7. To ensure that my audio project was as professional as it could be, I
ultimately tried to make the overall sound and mood authentic. I
added in fade ins and fade outs, so that the transitions to the next
piece of music and speaking audio wouldn’t be jarring and
abrupt. I added original sound effects to not make it sound cliché.
I won’t be able to compare my radio show as it is impossible to
embed
8. I believe that my final product is really creative and unique. The
aspects of my audio that I like is when I say when I act as the host
throughout. If I was to improve my final piece I would record the
script a few more times so that I wouldn't jumble over my words,
obviously it would be recorded as a full length show then just
snippets of audio. I think that my biggest strength was that I was
passionate about the subject along with hosting. I think my weakness
was being forced to editing the tracks down because of time
constraints.
9. I appeal to my target audience by making it inclusive for everyone. It
still doesn’t specially aim at any social group or psychographic. My
final piece would also appeal to anybody who loves music and the
1940s as well as radio shows. It will also educate people on the era.
My product would appeal to them because my product will be
accessible on the internet, this is how the majority of radio shows are
all marketed in the modern times.
10.
11. What did you like about the product?
Michele Parker a graphic designer, said that she
absolutely love the poster and the feel of it.
What improvements could have been made to
the product?
She also said the improvements that I need to make
would be that the spacing around the inside of the
circle needs be spaced more evenly and the white
outline makes it difficult to read and she thought it
would stand out more if it was just black.
12. What did you like about the product?
When it came to reviewing my radio she told me that she
was not an expert on radio, but really enjoyed listening. She
thought that the content and explanations were great.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
She noticed that when she listened to it the second time
there was a slight glitch with the song just before 8.30
seconds.
13. What did you like about the product?
Helen a woman who works for the foreign office told
me that she loved the poster she thought it was vey
authentic, she thought the type font was original, and
the blend of colours were very well done.
What improvements could have been made to
the product?
She said the only thing she wasn’t sure about was the
image of the dancer because she wasn’t sure it was a
1940s image, but having said that she felt that the
poster was very successful.
14. What did you like about the product?
She said it was a great concept but it was a shame
it was not complete i.e. we don’t get to hear the
entire songs this is because in every other sense it
was very professionally produced.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
She would have include more ‘fun facts’ either
about the artists or the songs to make it more
appealing.
15. What did you like about the product?
Roger Richards a photographer, thought it was very
reminiscent of the period and evocative of the war
years.
What improvements could have been made to
the product?
He felt that that no improvements sprung to
his mind as he thought it is overall very well
done.
16. What did you like about the product?
He thought it was excellent the whole way though,
the diction and pace was first rate and the facts
about the songs history and artists very interesting
and informative.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
He would have liked to have listened the entire
tracks of songs other than tasters.
17. What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
For my poster I agree the white outline makes it
difficult to read and next time I’ll fill in the outline to
make it black so it will stand out and Overall I believe
my poster is very well done and I’m very proud it.
What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
I don’t disagree with anything from my peer feedback
as I can spot the improvements and I can work them.
18. What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
For my radio show I agree that there is a glitch in the
radio show and if I had more time I would improve it.
Overall I believe my radio show is very well done and
I’m very proud it.
What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
I don’t disagree with anything from my peer feedback
as I can spot the improvements and I can work them.
19. Judging from what my peers have said about
my final product, the changes that I would
make would be that for my poster, I would
space out the words in the circle more evenly
and I would fill in the white making it black.
Finally for my radio I would fix the glitch and
make the show longer with full tracks of music
and add more fun facts about the artists and
songs.
