1. Tell me in no more than20 words, what is your
FMP idea?
I will create a podcaston Japanesefolk tales
specifically producingan episodeon the Japanese
legend called โthe bamboocutterโ
Why have youdecided to makeit? I am passionateaboutJapan andits history having
a specific love for Japaneseart, anime andculture.
I havealways enjoyed folklore stories especially
ones from aroundtheworld. My objective is to
entertain andeducate people equally. Finally, I
have hada lot of ideas with respect to the finer
details, suchas sound effects, music and voice
effects for the podcast. My idea is heavily based
aroundediting over story, butthisproject will
allow me to concentrateon bothelements and
challenge me to the fullest.
What aboutyourproject makesit importantto
you?
This is my final project; it is by far the most
important piece of work I will create duringmy
course. I will experience a level of planningthat
requires meticulousdetail, so the more elaborate
techniquesI can use, the more relevant Audio
Productionandsound becomesto me andmy
potentialfuture in the industry. Thisyear Iโve
been able to express my individuality viamy
projects and have been entrusted to present my
capabilities. This project with challenge me to the
fullest.
In the summerof 2020, I developed a YouTube
channel where I read fanfiction. This hasenabled
me to gain personalexperience within the field
along with receiving feedback from a worldwide
audience. This experience hasbroadenedmy
horizonsandgiven me a clearer indicationof the
pathI wish to take in the future.
Outline someof the initial influences onyour
idea/work and somepotential research targets
(remember, research isnโt justa paper-based
activity)
My initial influences include
The podcastTales / The entire style of the show is
an influence. This is a podcastbased solely around
telling folktales which is what my podcastto be
basedaround.
The podcastLore / PodcastThis is another
podcastthattells stories, but it also examines
historical facts within the stories which is another
factor I want to include in my podcast.
Joe Hasashi/ Music- I have been an avidfan of
Joe Hasashifor many years and since the story I
will be reading, and researching is of Japanese
2. origin I Wouldlike to haveJapanesestyled music
for the backgroundmusic.
The podcast Alice isnโtDead โ This podcast makes
the listener feel as if they are a part of the story as
well as the music setting the scene for every new
event which is, what I plannedto dowith my
podcast.
The podcast the truthโ This podcast makesthe
listener feel as if they are watching films but with
their ears with the realistic soundeffects and
music toset the tonewhich is, what I plannedto
do with my podcast.
What effect do youwant to haveon your
audience when they see yourproject?
I want my audience to feel awestruck, interested
andintrigued by whattheyโvelistened to. I want
to add facts intothe episode to makethe story
more groundedin truth andto make it realistic.
But I alsojust want the listener tocome away
havingenjoyed what they have justlistened to. I
believe thatthe main purposeof audiostories is
to entertain people andthatโsmy goal. I also want
to engage the audience enoughto encourage
them tocontinue to listen to further podcasts.
Describe the tone/mood/styleofyourproject
[which productiontechniques/characteristicsare
youemploying?]
For the larger part of the work, I want to create
the sense of mystery, otherworldly and legendary
tone in order can makemy audience feel like
theyโvebeen transportedtoanotherworld. This
will be done mostly by my useof soundand
choice of narration. Usingmusicthat is related to
the Japaneseculture will makethe audience feel
as if theyโrein Japanitself, as well as using
authenticsoundeffects to make it soundmore
realistic. Mostaudioprojects I haveworked on
tend tobe factual, soI want to differentiate my
work by blending fact and fiction. Combiningfact
andfiction is interesting to me when I create my
podcastthis way it will Excel in a way my previous
work hasnot. why
Why have youdecided to makeyour project in
this style?
Audio styleis what I work with best. A lot of the
work is donein in post-production. Inaddition,
there is a large element of research required
which I enjoy. The creative elements of editing are
anotherfeature I like to experiment with it also
requires a lot of work, butI feel this will enhance
my work in my final project
