THE ARCHERS (RADIO
SHOW)
The Archers is one of the longest running radio plays in the UK. Based around a farming
community in the UK it tells the stories of the every day life in the community.
Performance: Upon reviewing an episode of 'The Archers', specifically one from the 5th of
October 2014, despite that this is a radio drama, it is easy to distinguish different characters
through their accent and, tonal qualities, the emotions are expressed and emphasised so that
the audience can establish the emotional or mental state of the character.
Sound effects: Sound effects act as clues as to where the characters are in the story, such as
when the characters are outside with birds singing and or traffic.
Music: There is only one piece of music in the entire audio drama which is the theme tune.
‘Barwick Green’ is a "maypole dance" from the suite My Native Heath, written in 1924 by the
Yorkshire composer Arthur Wood, and named after Barwick-in-Elmet, east of Leeds, West
Yorkshire.

RESEARCH ANALYSIS
(RADIO SHOWS)
The radio shows follow a similar format, musical intro,
followed by host introduction, moving on to music
performance.
Some start with fade ins and straight cuts with the
narrator talking and then progressing onto a specific
topic. When tracks are being played, the entire song is
usually heard.
I am going to utilise the knowledge that I have gained
from my own knowledge of historical music and sfx
editing from my previous studies. I will ensure that the
spoken content is from reliable sources and correct. I will
create a radio show that has an audible style and feel
that is similar to 'Elaine Paige on Sunday'. Ultimately, I
would like to create a radio show that my audience can
enjoy as well as inform them about music from the
EXISTING PRODUCT: IT’S
A WONDERFUL LIFE: A
LIVE RADIO PLAY
(POSTER)The advertising poster for this live radio play, ‘It’s
a wonderful life' has the colour scheme of sky blue
and aurum, the eye catching elements when you
see this poster are the microphone with the golden
widescreen in addition to the golden graffiti wings
in the background. The poster uses this as its
focus point to catch the audience's eye. The poster
title is bold and enlarged to capture the audience's
attention, in addition to referencing the original
film ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ which is what the radio
play is based on.
To conclude the poster is very visually pleasing all
of the elements have drawn on design concepts
that are pleasing to the eye and encouraging the
audience to take note of the content.
EXISTING PRODUCT:
THE GREEN HORNET
AND THE GREAT CARNY
CAPER (POSTER)
The advertising poster for this radio show, 'The Green
Hornet and the Great Carny Caper' has the colour
scheme of yellow and red. The eye catching elements
of this poster are the bright and colourful graphics
created by the long prism style elements which pull
you in, in addition to imitating suns the rays. The
radio show’s title is capitalised and enlarged to
capture the audience's attention but the title
references the radio show’s name as well.. The font is
pays homage to old style fairground style type fonts
which gives the viewer an idea of the era of the show.
To conclude the poster is visually pleasing and
authentic.
EXISTING PRODUCT: TEA
AND BISCUITS WITH
WILL AND BRYAN
(POSTER) The advertisement poster for this radio
show ‘Tea and Biscuits with Will and
Bryan' has the colour scheme of lemon
yellow and cyan blue. The colours
could be described as “baby blue and
baby pink’’ conveying a childish,
friendly and youthful feeling. The first
element that catches ones eye are the
two gingerbread men sitting amiably in
the tea cup, who we presume are the
two main talk show hosts of the radio
show ‘Will’ and ‘Bryan’ . The film's title
is capitalised and enlarged as the
header. To conclude the poster is
simple and pleasing and encourages
the viewer to read the content.
RESEARCH ANALYSIS
(POSTERS)
The posters I chosen have commonality. They all use strong design techniques and bold colour themes
to guide the attention of the audience. The posters that are chosen are dominated by one main image,
and are quite simple.
I aim to include in my poster, both the concept of simple design and appealing colour contrast in my
production work, as I believe it works extremely well to create interest drawing in the audience.
If appropriate, I may include a rhetorical question in my design as I believe rhetorical questions work
very well at indulging the audience and reeling them in. Another common theme in the posters chosen
is the use of three different font elements, one to draw the viewers attention, and two others to create
additional interest. Content, information is clear and easily readable. I will endeavour to replicate that. I
will spend time researching what colour schemes to use which will convey the correct mood, along with
using contrast, deciding whether I want that to be high or low. I would hope to include a similar level of
sophistication and creativity/originality within my posters.
Overall reviewing these posters I have realised how important colour schemes and colour contrast are
and how they can compliment the style of the main design to create a visually interesting poster. It has
also allowed me to understand the importance of how much the design can guide the audience's eyes
to look at a specific point or detail in the poster.
I have learned a great deal about character placement from the ‘Tea and Biscuits’ poster by characters
'showing and not telling' as audiences understand by the visual references in the artwork what the
characters are doing and how they feel by imagery rather than description. I have also learned that
multiple fonts and sizes are successful in ensuring that whilst all the relevant information is contained,
it is emphasised by size and style.
QUESTIONNAIRE
ANALYSIS
SURVEY
https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/CQSWNXB
AUDIENCE RESEARCH
The first 2 questions were very basic to establish an audience and to obtain an idea of who was completing the
survey. This helped me throughout the survey to determine why answers might be heavily one sided (e.g. only
men are taking the survey)
From the results we can see the participation of genders is relatively balanced although there were 4 more male
participants. The age range of participants was heavily dominated by 16 -19 year olds. This means that if there is a
trend of similar answers it could be due to the similarity and commonality of that age range. This will be useful
information as it will give me an idea of the interest of that age range. One of the reasons there is a predominance of
teenagers in my survey group is that they are the ones I have access too for my survey during this time. Given the
time constraints involved, I recognise the limitations of this approach and that a larger survey base would be
beneficial in future research, in order to gain a much better understanding of my target audience.
AUDIENCE RESEARCH
The results show that most people surveyed listen to chart and documentary shows
with the majority stating that they listen to chart shows with documentaries falling
closely behind. It also shows that the demographic who took the survey are not 'too'
interested in listening to drama, sports and podcasts as there are no responses stating
the other shows reviewed.
These results are reflected in the dominance of the age range surveyed. In addition to
the preference in listening to music and garnering information from documentaries.
I will adjust aspects of my product so that my final project will attempt to address as
many of the audiences expectations as possible although given the nature of the show
this will have its limitations.
AUDIENCE RESEARCH
From the results we can see that the most listened to radio shows by this surveyed audience
are jazz and dubstep. This suggests that the audience prefers these two genres of music.
Most of my potential audience would be familiar to listening to Jazz/dubstep music and
would therefore have already been exposed to Jazz themes.
My product is going appeal to the audience because there is a similarity and common theme
with my my chosen era of music much of which is stylised around Jazz. I also intend to add
an underlying factual aspect to the radio show where I will magnify and showcase the factual
aspect of the music. This will give the radio show a larger platform and benefit
more listeners including those who are also interested in both the quality of the music but
the information too.
AUDIENCE RESEARCH
It is evident that the two thirds of the surveyed participants are not interested in
the historical development of music.
It shows that the audience want a radio show that predominantly plays music but
they may not be clear as to what the concept of historical development of music
is and what the intention behind adding this element is.
I will ensure that my radio show will play music but will also be
informative, while focusing on making it auditorily enjoyable.
AUDIENCE RESEARCH
We can see all participants want to listen to entire tracks of music.
This shows that my audience wants to explore the music completely rather than
just having a taste of the hosts choosing. This result was consistent across all
age and gender ranges.
Within my final radio show – if it came to fruition, I would include full tracks of
music. However for this purpose and due to time constraints this will not be
possible and example excerpts will be used. Whilst also showcasing the short
informative aspects of the music without it being drawn-out in order to
maximise the music and retain the listeners interest.
AUDIENCE RESEARCH
Out of the 13 responses 12 wanted the radio show to be 1 hour long, and only one
person wanted the radio show to be 1 and a half hours long.
This shows that the people prefer a show of shorter duration presumably based on the
time in which the average person has to commit to listening in detail to a radio show.
With links between songs this would approximately provide 12 to 15 songs for each
show.
AUDIENCE RESEARCH
Observation: 8 of the 13 participants said the best medium to listen to radio shows
was on the internet or you tube whilst the next highest, 4, said the best medium was
Radio.
What this says about my audience: It shows that my audience prefers to listen to radio
shows on the internet presumably as it more easily accessible
How will your product appeal to this audience: I will make my radio show accessible
on internet platforms such as YouTube, Spotify, Google play and Apple music. This
would give the show its maximum reach by targeting listenrs preferred means of
accessing the show.
AUDIENCE RESEARCH
The vast majority stated that they preferred the radio show to be narrated by
someone who is a general presenter rather than somebody with topical
knowledge.
This shows that my audience likes general presenters because of the familiarity
they create also whilst specific experts in a field may have detailed knowledge on
a subject they are not necessarily best placed to be behind a microphone. As a
consequence they could be used for research purposes and specific information
to enhance the content rather than present it.
My radio show will be presented by a general presenter because they are more
likely to attract listeners due to their notoriety.
AUDIENCE RESEARCH
The results overwhelmingly proved that the audience thinks that the radio
show would be best advertised on the TV.
This shows that my audience already recognise content on the TV, and
therefore are more likely to be exposed to new and different content
through their normal viewing habits.
Through brief excerpts of the show indicating the content and timings. I will
ensure that the finished product is advertised via TV media channels.
Interviews
INTERVIEW 1: NAME:
AMY WATSON AGE:18,
GENDER: FEMALE
Do you like narration from presenters in radio shows Why? Or why not?
I prefer radio shows to not have narration, as I think it breaks the immrsion into the
world radio. If the narrator is breaking the fourth wall, then it is harder to put yourself
into the world the show is trying to build. Plus, it will be harder to focus on the on the
music you are hearing in the show if you are concentaiting on what the narrator is
saying.
Do you prefer the generic 'radio show music' or do you prefer radio shows that use
music from real bands? Why?
I think it is better for a radio show to use music from a real band, as it makes it more
relatible for the audience members who know the song, and it leaves the meaning of
the music in the contexct it's been put in much more open to interpretation. Though it
does make the radio show harder to make in some respects, as it has to fit the song
and cut the appropriate times so as not create any dissonance
When listening to a radio show what do you pay more attention to, the information, the
characters, the music? Which is it and why?
I pay the most attention to the music in a radio show, because I think the choice of the
soundtrack often tells the theme of the music show.
When listening to a radio show do you prefer it to be broken up with reviews, release
dates etc. Or do you prefer the information film to be in one piece and the reviews and
release dates etc. To be shown afterwards? Why?
I think a radio show should only have adverts because it's how they make money.
INTERVIEW 1: NAME:
AMY WATSON
AGE:18, GENDER:
FEMALEObservation: This interview shows that the interviewee very
much focused on sound and music when listening to a radio
show and they wanted the radio show to be as immersive as
possible, saying they don't appriciate reiviews as it could as
it could give you the wrong impression of the radio show
(negative or positive) and the actual product being very
different to what you except.
What this says about my audience: This shows that my
audience want to be immersed and 'taken out of reality' and
into the world of radio when listening to the radio show.
They want to be immursed through through the sound
desigin, while staying grounded in reality by having for
example a song from a real band as the theme tune of the
radio show.
How will your product appeal to this audience: In my
product I want to use sound desigin as a large factor of
creating intreast for the audience, using real world music
and diegetic sounds, to influence the editing and using very
little 'voice-over' or 'narration' to explain what is going on,
in the radio show.
INTERVIEW 2:
NAME: HARRY DOCWRA
AGE:18, GENDER: MALE
Do you like narration from presenters in radio shows Why? Or why not?
Sometimes I like narration in radio shows if it doesn’t go on for too
long and ruin the radio show
Do you prefer the generic 'radio show music' or do you prefer radio
shows that use music from real bands? Why?
I prefer generic horror radio show music as long as there is a certain
creative feel to it
When listening to a radio show what do you pay more attention to, the
information, the characters, the music? Which is it and why?
It really depends on what is done the best.
When listening to a radio show do you prefer it to be broken up with
reviews, release dates etc. Or do you prefer the information film to be
in one piece and the reviews and release dates etc. To be
shown afterwards? Why?
I prefer to know as much as possible about the radio show but not too
early. Release dates should be the very first thing to be announced.
Then more information should be released as the radio show gets
closer to its official release date.
INTERVIEW
2 NAME: HARRY
DOCWRA AGE:18,
GENDER: MALEObservation:
This shows that interviewee is very much focused on sound and music
when listening to the radio show and they wanted the radio show to be
immersive as possible saying that they prefer to know as much as
possible about the but not too early. Release dates should be the very
first thing to be announced. Then more information should be released
as the radio show gets closer to its official release date.
What this says about my audience:
This shows that that my audience want to be immersed and 'taken out
of reality' and into the world of the film when watching the radio show.
They want to be immersed through the ssound design, while
staying grounded by having for example having horror music with a
creative feel to it as the score of the radio show.
How will your product appeal to this audience:
In my product I want to use sound design as a large factor of
creating interest for the audience, using real world music and diegetic
sounds to influence the editing and using very 'voice over' or 'narration'
to explain what is going on, in the radio show.

  • 7. EXISTING PRODUCT: THE ARCHERS (RADIO SHOW) The Archers is one of the longest running radio plays in the UK. Based around a farming community in the UK it tells the stories of the every day life in the community. Performance: Upon reviewing an episode of 'The Archers', specifically one from the 5th of October 2014, despite that this is a radio drama, it is easy to distinguish different characters through their accent and, tonal qualities, the emotions are expressed and emphasised so that the audience can establish the emotional or mental state of the character. Sound effects: Sound effects act as clues as to where the characters are in the story, such as when the characters are outside with birds singing and or traffic. Music: There is only one piece of music in the entire audio drama which is the theme tune. ‘Barwick Green’ is a "maypole dance" from the suite My Native Heath, written in 1924 by the Yorkshire composer Arthur Wood, and named after Barwick-in-Elmet, east of Leeds, West Yorkshire. Elaine Pages’ distinctive voice and humour provides the background and support to reminiscing musical performances of current & times gone by. Performance: Upon reviewing an episode of 'Elaine Paige on Sunday', specifically one from the 20th April 2013, it's clear when the narrator is talking, that she has a laid-back, warm, familiar manner which makes the listener feel relaxed and at home. Sound effects: There are no sound effects in 'Elaine Paige on Sunday' because it consists of music and conversation. Music: There is a wide variety of music played as it plays the best of Broadway, Hollywood and the West End. Radio show: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000hg1b
  • 9. RESEARCH ANALYSIS (RADIO SHOWS) The radio shows follow a similar format, musical intro, followed by host introduction, moving on to music performance. Some start with fade ins and straight cuts with the narrator talking and then progressing onto a specific topic. When tracks are being played, the entire song is usually heard. I am going to utilise the knowledge that I have gained from my own knowledge of historical music and sfx editing from my previous studies. I will ensure that the spoken content is from reliable sources and correct. I will create a radio show that has an audible style and feel that is similar to 'Elaine Paige on Sunday'. Ultimately, I would like to create a radio show that my audience can enjoy as well as inform them about music from the
  • 10. EXISTING PRODUCT: IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE: A LIVE RADIO PLAY (POSTER)The advertising poster for this live radio play, ‘It’s a wonderful life' has the colour scheme of sky blue and aurum, the eye catching elements when you see this poster are the microphone with the golden widescreen in addition to the golden graffiti wings in the background. The poster uses this as its focus point to catch the audience's eye. The poster title is bold and enlarged to capture the audience's attention, in addition to referencing the original film ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ which is what the radio play is based on. To conclude the poster is very visually pleasing all of the elements have drawn on design concepts that are pleasing to the eye and encouraging the audience to take note of the content.
  • 11. EXISTING PRODUCT: THE GREEN HORNET AND THE GREAT CARNY CAPER (POSTER) The advertising poster for this radio show, 'The Green Hornet and the Great Carny Caper' has the colour scheme of yellow and red. The eye catching elements of this poster are the bright and colourful graphics created by the long prism style elements which pull you in, in addition to imitating suns the rays. The radio show’s title is capitalised and enlarged to capture the audience's attention but the title references the radio show’s name as well.. The font is pays homage to old style fairground style type fonts which gives the viewer an idea of the era of the show. To conclude the poster is visually pleasing and authentic.
  • 12. EXISTING PRODUCT: TEA AND BISCUITS WITH WILL AND BRYAN (POSTER) The advertisement poster for this radio show ‘Tea and Biscuits with Will and Bryan' has the colour scheme of lemon yellow and cyan blue. The colours could be described as “baby blue and baby pink’’ conveying a childish, friendly and youthful feeling. The first element that catches ones eye are the two gingerbread men sitting amiably in the tea cup, who we presume are the two main talk show hosts of the radio show ‘Will’ and ‘Bryan’ . The film's title is capitalised and enlarged as the header. To conclude the poster is simple and pleasing and encourages the viewer to read the content.
  • 13. RESEARCH ANALYSIS (POSTERS) The posters I chosen have commonality. They all use strong design techniques and bold colour themes to guide the attention of the audience. The posters that are chosen are dominated by one main image, and are quite simple. I aim to include in my poster, both the concept of simple design and appealing colour contrast in my production work, as I believe it works extremely well to create interest drawing in the audience. If appropriate, I may include a rhetorical question in my design as I believe rhetorical questions work very well at indulging the audience and reeling them in. Another common theme in the posters chosen is the use of three different font elements, one to draw the viewers attention, and two others to create additional interest. Content, information is clear and easily readable. I will endeavour to replicate that. I will spend time researching what colour schemes to use which will convey the correct mood, along with using contrast, deciding whether I want that to be high or low. I would hope to include a similar level of sophistication and creativity/originality within my posters. Overall reviewing these posters I have realised how important colour schemes and colour contrast are and how they can compliment the style of the main design to create a visually interesting poster. It has also allowed me to understand the importance of how much the design can guide the audience's eyes to look at a specific point or detail in the poster. I have learned a great deal about character placement from the ‘Tea and Biscuits’ poster by characters 'showing and not telling' as audiences understand by the visual references in the artwork what the characters are doing and how they feel by imagery rather than description. I have also learned that multiple fonts and sizes are successful in ensuring that whilst all the relevant information is contained, it is emphasised by size and style.
  • 16. AUDIENCE RESEARCH The first 2 questions were very basic to establish an audience and to obtain an idea of who was completing the survey. This helped me throughout the survey to determine why answers might be heavily one sided (e.g. only men are taking the survey) From the results we can see the participation of genders is relatively balanced although there were 4 more male participants. The age range of participants was heavily dominated by 16 -19 year olds. This means that if there is a trend of similar answers it could be due to the similarity and commonality of that age range. This will be useful information as it will give me an idea of the interest of that age range. One of the reasons there is a predominance of teenagers in my survey group is that they are the ones I have access too for my survey during this time. Given the time constraints involved, I recognise the limitations of this approach and that a larger survey base would be beneficial in future research, in order to gain a much better understanding of my target audience.
  • 17. AUDIENCE RESEARCH The results show that most people surveyed listen to chart and documentary shows with the majority stating that they listen to chart shows with documentaries falling closely behind. It also shows that the demographic who took the survey are not 'too' interested in listening to drama, sports and podcasts as there are no responses stating the other shows reviewed. These results are reflected in the dominance of the age range surveyed. In addition to the preference in listening to music and garnering information from documentaries. I will adjust aspects of my product so that my final project will attempt to address as many of the audiences expectations as possible although given the nature of the show this will have its limitations.
  • 18. AUDIENCE RESEARCH From the results we can see that the most listened to radio shows by this surveyed audience are jazz and dubstep. This suggests that the audience prefers these two genres of music. Most of my potential audience would be familiar to listening to Jazz/dubstep music and would therefore have already been exposed to Jazz themes. My product is going appeal to the audience because there is a similarity and common theme with my my chosen era of music much of which is stylised around Jazz. I also intend to add an underlying factual aspect to the radio show where I will magnify and showcase the factual aspect of the music. This will give the radio show a larger platform and benefit more listeners including those who are also interested in both the quality of the music but the information too.
  • 19. AUDIENCE RESEARCH It is evident that the two thirds of the surveyed participants are not interested in the historical development of music. It shows that the audience want a radio show that predominantly plays music but they may not be clear as to what the concept of historical development of music is and what the intention behind adding this element is. I will ensure that my radio show will play music but will also be informative, while focusing on making it auditorily enjoyable.
  • 20. AUDIENCE RESEARCH We can see all participants want to listen to entire tracks of music. This shows that my audience wants to explore the music completely rather than just having a taste of the hosts choosing. This result was consistent across all age and gender ranges. Within my final radio show – if it came to fruition, I would include full tracks of music. However for this purpose and due to time constraints this will not be possible and example excerpts will be used. Whilst also showcasing the short informative aspects of the music without it being drawn-out in order to maximise the music and retain the listeners interest.
  • 21. AUDIENCE RESEARCH Out of the 13 responses 12 wanted the radio show to be 1 hour long, and only one person wanted the radio show to be 1 and a half hours long. This shows that the people prefer a show of shorter duration presumably based on the time in which the average person has to commit to listening in detail to a radio show. With links between songs this would approximately provide 12 to 15 songs for each show.
  • 22. AUDIENCE RESEARCH Observation: 8 of the 13 participants said the best medium to listen to radio shows was on the internet or you tube whilst the next highest, 4, said the best medium was Radio. What this says about my audience: It shows that my audience prefers to listen to radio shows on the internet presumably as it more easily accessible How will your product appeal to this audience: I will make my radio show accessible on internet platforms such as YouTube, Spotify, Google play and Apple music. This would give the show its maximum reach by targeting listenrs preferred means of accessing the show.
  • 23. AUDIENCE RESEARCH The vast majority stated that they preferred the radio show to be narrated by someone who is a general presenter rather than somebody with topical knowledge. This shows that my audience likes general presenters because of the familiarity they create also whilst specific experts in a field may have detailed knowledge on a subject they are not necessarily best placed to be behind a microphone. As a consequence they could be used for research purposes and specific information to enhance the content rather than present it. My radio show will be presented by a general presenter because they are more likely to attract listeners due to their notoriety.
  • 24. AUDIENCE RESEARCH The results overwhelmingly proved that the audience thinks that the radio show would be best advertised on the TV. This shows that my audience already recognise content on the TV, and therefore are more likely to be exposed to new and different content through their normal viewing habits. Through brief excerpts of the show indicating the content and timings. I will ensure that the finished product is advertised via TV media channels.
  • 26. INTERVIEW 1: NAME: AMY WATSON AGE:18, GENDER: FEMALE Do you like narration from presenters in radio shows Why? Or why not? I prefer radio shows to not have narration, as I think it breaks the immrsion into the world radio. If the narrator is breaking the fourth wall, then it is harder to put yourself into the world the show is trying to build. Plus, it will be harder to focus on the on the music you are hearing in the show if you are concentaiting on what the narrator is saying. Do you prefer the generic 'radio show music' or do you prefer radio shows that use music from real bands? Why? I think it is better for a radio show to use music from a real band, as it makes it more relatible for the audience members who know the song, and it leaves the meaning of the music in the contexct it's been put in much more open to interpretation. Though it does make the radio show harder to make in some respects, as it has to fit the song and cut the appropriate times so as not create any dissonance When listening to a radio show what do you pay more attention to, the information, the characters, the music? Which is it and why? I pay the most attention to the music in a radio show, because I think the choice of the soundtrack often tells the theme of the music show. When listening to a radio show do you prefer it to be broken up with reviews, release dates etc. Or do you prefer the information film to be in one piece and the reviews and release dates etc. To be shown afterwards? Why? I think a radio show should only have adverts because it's how they make money.
  • 27. INTERVIEW 1: NAME: AMY WATSON AGE:18, GENDER: FEMALEObservation: This interview shows that the interviewee very much focused on sound and music when listening to a radio show and they wanted the radio show to be as immersive as possible, saying they don't appriciate reiviews as it could as it could give you the wrong impression of the radio show (negative or positive) and the actual product being very different to what you except. What this says about my audience: This shows that my audience want to be immersed and 'taken out of reality' and into the world of radio when listening to the radio show. They want to be immursed through through the sound desigin, while staying grounded in reality by having for example a song from a real band as the theme tune of the radio show. How will your product appeal to this audience: In my product I want to use sound desigin as a large factor of creating intreast for the audience, using real world music and diegetic sounds, to influence the editing and using very little 'voice-over' or 'narration' to explain what is going on, in the radio show.
  • 28. INTERVIEW 2: NAME: HARRY DOCWRA AGE:18, GENDER: MALE Do you like narration from presenters in radio shows Why? Or why not? Sometimes I like narration in radio shows if it doesn’t go on for too long and ruin the radio show Do you prefer the generic 'radio show music' or do you prefer radio shows that use music from real bands? Why? I prefer generic horror radio show music as long as there is a certain creative feel to it When listening to a radio show what do you pay more attention to, the information, the characters, the music? Which is it and why? It really depends on what is done the best. When listening to a radio show do you prefer it to be broken up with reviews, release dates etc. Or do you prefer the information film to be in one piece and the reviews and release dates etc. To be shown afterwards? Why? I prefer to know as much as possible about the radio show but not too early. Release dates should be the very first thing to be announced. Then more information should be released as the radio show gets closer to its official release date.
  • 29. INTERVIEW 2 NAME: HARRY DOCWRA AGE:18, GENDER: MALEObservation: This shows that interviewee is very much focused on sound and music when listening to the radio show and they wanted the radio show to be immersive as possible saying that they prefer to know as much as possible about the but not too early. Release dates should be the very first thing to be announced. Then more information should be released as the radio show gets closer to its official release date. What this says about my audience: This shows that that my audience want to be immersed and 'taken out of reality' and into the world of the film when watching the radio show. They want to be immersed through the ssound design, while staying grounded by having for example having horror music with a creative feel to it as the score of the radio show. How will your product appeal to this audience: In my product I want to use sound design as a large factor of creating interest for the audience, using real world music and diegetic sounds to influence the editing and using very 'voice over' or 'narration' to explain what is going on, in the radio show.
