3. Breakdown of Units 9 & 10
• What areas did you do well on? • What areas would you like to
develop in the FMP?
I did well on the copy area The areas I would like improve for my FMP would be
product research, context research, audience
research, proposal, ideas and planning, experiments,
production, reflection and evaluation
4. 6.1 Daily Reflection
I need to discuss the methods/tools used and reflections upon the quality and progress of the work for each day of production
then I need to reference my thoughts and feelings, and areas for improvement · Finally I will mention my plans for next day of
production.
5. 1.1 Research Theory and Content
I need to research content related to my topic in further detail- gathering the information you will include in my copy. I will try to
ensure I’m not relying on my own knowledge and can attribute information I present to an existing source (website, book etc.) ·
Finally I will include more data and information I plan to use with my bibliography.
6. 1. 2 Pre-proposal
Rationale; Include more reference to your general Media education- apart from previous units in video what will help this
project. Consider teamwork, delegation of roles/work, specific audio and print skills etc. · Complete schedule with more specific
reference to individual tasks and activities you will complete each week.
7. 1.2 Proposal
Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your experiments in more detail- what went well, what could have been improved.
Compare your work with existing products you used for inspiration. What could you have done to make it look more like an
existing product? · Discuss how each experiment will help you in your final production. · Discuss what you did and how you did it
· Most of the text is repeated over several slides with no new information
8. 2.1 Research Products
Develop existing products research with more analysis ensuring you have discussed the creation of meaning
Research/analyse/annotate additional products
Include an audience profile for each product researched where possible- search for reader profiles for researched magazines, age
rating for film/game, target audiences, average art gallery patrons, use https://yougov.co.uk/profileslite#/ etc. etc. Include origin
of source. Don’t state it from your own independent understanding of the product- find a source to state it. This may not always
be easy or even possible to find, but an attempt would be beneficial.
Develop overall research analysis with further discussion of what you have researched, how it’s been beneficial and how it will
impact upon your future work.
9. 2.1 Research Audience
Complete the bibliography following Harvard Referencing style (full details in the Theory support document)
Conduct the interview you have referenced.
Conduct additional surveys/interviews/focus groups- research what other ways you could conduct audience research and do it.
10. 2.2, 3.1 & 3.2 Problem Solving
Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your experiments in more detail- what went well, what could have been improved.
Compare your work with existing products you used for inspiration. What could you have done to make it look more like an
existing product?
Discuss how each experiment will help you in your final production.
Discuss what you did and how you did it
Most of the text is repeated over several slides with no new information
11. 2.2 & 3.2 Experiments
12. 4.1 Pre-Production
Add further planning areas relevant to your final project; e.g. further consideration of style (style of audio show, style of
presenting etc), clips you have sourced, sound effects/music you will need to create or source (with reference to how they will be
used and when), health and safety considerations, contingency planning and other relevant planning areas for your work.
Ensure you have provided a rationale with each creative decision you have made.
Complete a schedule with more specific reference to individual tasks and activities you will complete each session/day during
production.
13. 5.1 Production
A lot of your duration is dedicated to the opening title audio from the show- for such a short run time avoid lengthy
inclusions of content that you have not created as it gives me less evidence of original work to mark.
Music changes are abrupt- consider using crossfades to subtly transition from one to the next
Consider re-recording narration if there are any mispronunciations.
Remove large gaps of dead air where you are not talking mid-sentence. If you need to read ahead just stop the recording and
start again when you are ready- these can all be put together in the final edit. If you would rather do it as one long recording, cut
out the dead air to make the sentence flow as if you hadn’t paused
14. 6.1 Production Reflection
Discuss methods/tools used and reflections upon the quality and progress of the work for each day of production.
Reference your thoughts and feelings, areas for improvement, what you like, etc.
Mention your plans for next day of production.
15. 6.2 Evaluation
Reflect upon work in further detail with illustrative examples and images. Analyse specific sections of your work- reference
sounds effects, presenting, audio quality, compare with similar existing products, what you would do differently if you were to
repeat project.
Editor's Notes
Reference what you achieved marks you are happy (or happier) with. You may have got Passes throughout, but some areas you may feel you will have done better in even though they achieved the same grade- focus on these bits. For developments, reference any specific tasks you were disappointed in, or want to improve upon in the FMP.
Use the feedback provided to briefly summarise your plans to ensure you achieve your desired grade in each task.
