Austrian neurologist
who became known as
the founding Father of
psychoanalysis.
Objectives :

• Contents of the mind you are not currently

• Contents kept out of conscious awareness
• The unconscious mind is thought to contain
thoughts, feelings, desires, and memories
that are hidden from conscious awareness
but can still influence our behavior and
emotions.

• Resides completely at the unconscious level
• immediate gratification, not willing to compromise
Generates all of the personality's energy
• Acts under the pleasure principle
• seeking to reduce tension, avoid pain, and obtain
pleasure
ID
• The superego is the moral and ethical part of
the psyche.
• It represents societal and parental values and
enforces rules and standards of behavior.
• It often leads to feelings of guilt when one's
actions violate these standards.
SUPER EGO
• The ego is the rational, realistic part
of the psyche.
• It balances the demands of the id and
the constraints of the superego.
• It seeks to satisfy the id's desires in
a socially acceptable and realistic
way.
• Operates under "reality principle"
