Meaning and Concept of Micro Teaching
Microteaching is a technique used for the developm
ent of skills in Pupil Teachers.
"Micro-teaching is a scaled down teaching encoun
ter in class size and time."
D.W.Allen 1966
It is relatively a new experience or innovation in th
e field of teacher education, more specifically in s
tudent teaching
In India micro teaching was introduced by D.D. T
iwari in 1967 at CPI, Allahabad.

Reducing:
In micro-teaching we reduce:
Class size 5-10 pupils.
Time duration 5-10 minutes.
Topic Size.
• Classroom complexities.
1) The duration of teaching as well as number of st
udents are less.
2) The content is divided into smaller units which m
akes the teaching easier.
3) Only one teaching skill is considered at a tim
e.
4) There is a provision of immediate feedback.
5) In micro teaching cycle, there is facility of re- pla
nning, re-teaching and re-evaluation.
Nature and Characteristics of Micro Teaching
6) It puts the teacher under the microscope
7) All the faults of the teacher are observed.
8) The problem of discipline can also be controlled.
