2. INTRODUCTION:-
Rhinitis is a reaction that happens in the eyes, nose, and throat
when allergens in the air trigger histamine to be released in the
body. Some of the most common causes of rhinitis are pollen,
dust mites, mold, cockroach waste, animal dander, fumes and
odors, hormonal changes, and smoke.

3. DEFINITION:-
“ Rhinitis (stuffy nose) is the inflammation of the mucus
membrane of nose”.

4. CAUSES:-
Hay fever
Pollen grains
Dust
Molds
Animal dander
Smoke
Common cold
pharyngitis

5. CLINICAL MANIFESTATION:-
Sneezing
Runny nose
Eye itching
Pale and edematous nasal mucosa
Conjunctivitis
Fever
Malaise
Dark circles under the eyes.

6. COMPLICATION:-
Chronic rhinitis
Sinusitis
Upper respiratory tract infections
Nasal polyps

7. DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION:-
History collection
Rhinoscopy
Physical examination
Blood investigation

8. MANAGEMENT:-
Antihistamines- to remove nasal congestion- cetirizine,
levocetirizine
Inhalation steroids
Antibiotics medications
Symptomatic management- headache-analgesic, fever-
antipyretics, vomiting- antiemetics.
