2. INTRODUCTION:-
The penis is an external organ through which pee and semen leave the
body. Penile diseases and disorders may include priapism, Peyronie’s
disease, balanitis, Phimosis, Paraphimosis,, penile cancer and erectile
dysfunction. Treatment depends on condition. Problem with the penis can
cause pain and affect a man’s sexual function and fertility.
8. CAUSES:-
•Blood diseases, including leukemia and sickle cell anemia.
•Antidepressants and BP medications.
•Spinal cord trauma
•Injury to genital area
•Black widow spider bites.
•Carbon monoxide poisonin.
9. CLINICAL MANIFESTATION:-
•Unwanted erection lasting more than 4 hours.
•Rigid penile shaft
•Erection not related to sexual stimulation
•Tender penis.
•Painful erection
•Painless in nonischemic priapism
11. MANAGEMENT:-
For ischemic priapism-
Aspiration:- with local anesthesia excess blood is drained from it. Using a small
needle and syringe.
Shunt surgery:- A surgical shunt is created to restore normal blood circulation. A
surgical shunt create a new route for trapped blood to return the body.
12. PREVENTION:
•Avoiding triggers such as alcohol or illegal drug.
•Self injection of phenylephrine to stop prolonged erection.
•Hormone treatment only for adult men.
•Prescription muscle relaxant such as baclofen.

“Peyronie’s disease is the development of abnormal scar tissue or
pause in the tissues inside the penis, characterized by a plaque or
hard lump that forms within the penis called peyronie’s disease.”
