Question 2
1. Question 2 –
How effective is the combination of your main
product and ancillary texts?
2. MAGAZINE COVER
I chose ‘Total Film’ as the distributing company as they use very striking images, and also really
like the style of the actual cover and how they present it. I tried to keep some things similar to
the ‘Total film’ cover, such as the masthead and sub headings. As I think that it all works really
well together. To make sure that all of my products were linked in some way, I decided that the
locations and outfits should be the same or similar. I also believe that my image reflects my
trailer well. I kept things similar so that the audience can recognise this, and in their heads can
remember the other products, due to the similarities.
3. POSTER
This is the poster that I made to promote my film trailer. I was very influenced by the layout of the Fish
Tank poster, which I have shown below. I feel that my poster definitely conveys the mood and genre of
my trailer. Like I said previously about my magazine cover, I kept the location and also the outfit of the
model the same. I did this purposely so that they linked together well, and the audience can easily link
them together due to this. Overall I am very pleased with my poster. I am pleased that the magazine
cover and poster are relatable to each other, as I think I have captured the film ‘mood’ within the
images.
4. TRAILER
All together, I strongly think that my poster and
magazine cover reflect the films storyline/plot
very effectively. Combined together I think they
provide a dramatic vibe. I feel that they are also
linked together well due to the actress wearing
similar clothing in all 3 media products. She
doesn’t change drastically, which helps the
audience feel that they know the character and
can also relate to her. As the way she
dresses/looks also fits in with my female target
audience.
