1. C2C – Down the road
We thought that this track is appealing to us because it creates a fun
mood as we are young people & like to play with ideas in order to
create something new. This track will allow us to explore our creativity
and make informed decisions regarding our music video.
4. Our best idea…
• The protagonist being shouted at by his wife and the camera zooms in
onto his eye to focus in on his thought track of his wish to escape into an
alternative world on a journey with snippets of animation.
• The main concept of our music video is to follow the protagonist’s bizarre
journey into his imagination. This will allow us to take advantage of
various shots & a range of Mise-en-scene like to modernise tradition.
• We then come back to the protagonist sitting on his porch, a train rolls
past [old/vintage train?] offering him the chance to escape leaving the
audience questioning whether he will leave his wife/stay.
5. Relation to lyrics &
visuals
• Our idea about the wife being present relates to the words
‘Darling’ & ‘baby’ which are associated with happy
relationships and affection towards each other. However,
when he sings ‘have no place to go’ it relates to the images
of him walking down this ‘never ending’ road onto the
journey in his mind.
• The lyrics ‘goodbye baby’ parallel with the shots of the
protagonist possibly leaving his wife and the word ‘Ahhhhh’
could reflect how indecisive he is about the idea.
• & Again, the lyrics ‘that train rode up now’ is shown as
possibly a long shot to emphasise the idea of the opportunity
to go…
7. Mise-en-scene ideas?
Our idea of fields/rural ideas represent the idea of freedom from
his wife as there is a lot of green area which is associated with
free space.
Our protagonists ‘banjo’ [guitar] represents his object for escape
from his wife as it is something which he has some form of
passion for.
The costume of the straw hat & the dungarees emphasises our
idea about the cow-boy/rural theme because of the music at the
beginning which sort of conforms to the stereo-type of the cow-
boyish music.
Our shot of the train passing represents his chance to escape
from his wife but does he decide to take the chance/not?
8. Camera angles? Shots?
Dolly shot/Tracking shot
Pans
Close ups/medium shots/long shots
Establishing shots
ETC…
